Hi there. Just had an issue where I sold a physical item, and got a confirmation from Paypal with no physical address. Then had had to chase down the concept in the forum that "Shipping/Buyer's Address" had to be checked for each individual physical item added. Fair enough - makes sense.

Suggestion: When one is signed up as a physical item (non-digital item) seller, the "single file download", "send stored codes", and "send generated codes" check boxes are, naturally, grayed out during "add product" and "edit product". That makes perfect sense.

However - if one ISN'T selling and CAN'T sell digital items, (because of the type of subscription) doesn't it make equally good sense that the Shipping/Buyer's Address checkbox get FILLED by default for all items added - for sellers who must, per say, need the physical address of the buyer because they are apparently indicating to e-junkie that they are NOT delivering a digital product?

It would be fine to make it un-checkable (though I'm not sure why as a non-digital item seller one would want to un-check it) but filling by default would protect non-digital delivery sellers from accidentally failing to check the necessary box to get addresses to send their physical product to.

This would be seem to be a more efficient use of computers who love to do repetitive things v. humans who take finite amounts of time to check details, and sometimes fail to understand the system at work.

Of course, (while I'm kibbitzing,) if the "Add Item >> Shipping/Buyer's Address" checkbox label simply read, "PHYSICAL item: Get Buyer's address/calculate Shipping" the confusion would not exist in the first place.

Also, IMO, neither the "send generated codes" or "Shipping/Buyer's address checkboxes should be in the interior (nested to the right of the main list of checkboxes). Checkboxes not in the main line of boxes on the left are ergonomically inefficient, because they are easier for the new user to miss - and there's no lack of space below on that page.

Thanks!

Hi...I am getting an error message when I do a test check on 'Add To Cart' button. I filled out all the Shipping rules with their different costs (France/ Europe/ World) and followed through with changing the 'add to cart' HTML code on my page.

I became a bit confused because when I edit a product, one of the following pages is a shipping info page. I filled out the 'EDIT E-JUNKIE Cart Shipping Settings' under 'Manage My Seller Account'. So do I leave the values on the Edit products seguence alone-don't fill it out, I want to say?

1. Could I be getting an error message because I made some mistakes on creating the Shipping Rules and cannot delete them? Why can I not seem to delete Rules if they are wrong? I didn't realize in the beginning of creating the Rules that each rule needs to be individually created. Anyway, I created all my rules correctly, I believe and submitted them, then took the new HTML code and updated my Add To Cart button. Now the error message just seems to be automatic like it doesn't matter what country or postal code I put in. It is like it is a part of the HTML code almost! But I've updated it many times. That is why I was thinking it could be in the 'Rules'...the two mistakes I made!

Can you help me?

Gratefully,

Bobby

Went back to work again on my error message and found the 'delete' button for the false rules...I will go check now if that will erase the error message on my page. NO. It doesn't help me for the error message in the 'ADD To Cart' button page.

Hi again, while working on this error message in the 'Add To Cart' page, I wanted to see if it would let me 'Checkout' and I received a message to put in the 'Country' and 'Postal Code'...which were already correctly filled in. The page is simply not recognizing all my 'Shipping Rules'...maybe I'm not doing something that is necessary; it isn't obvious!

Thanks.

Hello,

If you are getting an error in your shopping cart it is because there are no shipping rules created to cover the order you have in your cart, either because the country, quantity or weight of an order is not covered by the rules you currently have created.

In order for us to be able to help you troubleshoot your cart and shipping settings could you please give us a link to your website where you are testing your cart buttons and could you also explain what you would like your shipping costs to be?

Hi...and thank you for getting back to me.

My site is not yet on-line but you should be able to access and test everything with this link:

http://bit.ly/1fDHcl9

Important: I only tried to set-up one product: Physical CD on the Home page for a beginning.

WHAT I WANT TO DO: I have three zones to ship to from France (post code 67000). They are the following: France/ Europe/ World. I created my shipping rules from your ''Manage Your Seller's Acct' list and I believe each zone is represented correctly for cost and means of shipping.

I was confused by the sequence on 'Edit Products' that gave me a shipping option. I left it blank because it didn't serve my purposes exactly. But your 'Eit E-Junkie Cart Shipping Settings' seemed like it did fit my situation well.

Thank you for nay help you can give me on this. I didn't see a way to 'marry' my Rules for Shipping with my products and maybe that isn't necessary. I reset the 'Add To Cart' button several times during this process as I went back and forth between the 'Creating of Shipping Rules' and 'Edit Your Products' sequence. Now I'm a bit lost.

Thank you, Strasbob

It looks like you have created an individual shipping rate for every single country in the world so far. The reason that none of these rules are working is that you have set them only to apply to orders which weigh between 8 and 49 grams. You don't appear to have actually applied any weight settings to your products, so orders weigh 0 grams and never trigger your existing rules, resulting in an error.

Unfortunately the only solution is to start over. Setting your products to weigh 8 grams would start properly triggering your existing shipping rules but that will do you no good when someone orders multiple units and exceeds the weight limit you built in.

Fortunately you don't actually need to create a shipping rule for every single country in the world.

You will need to start by deleting every single rule you have created so far. When making new rules do not enter any unnecessary restrictions on weight or currency or quantity.

Our system cannot do "zones" but the "all countries" setting will basically function as "all other countries" which allows you to create rules to apply to a few specific countries and then use "all countries" to cover everyone else in the world. You'll need to start with France and enter your domestic shipping rate, then you will need a rule for each other country in Europe. You can vary those costs and keep them the same, but if you want a special rate for "Europe" it will necessarily need to be done one country at a time.

Once you are done with Europe just make one final rule which applies to "all countries" and it will be the fallback rule that gets applied to anyone who isn't in Europe.

Hi...thank you for your info and analysis. I didn't know that 'All Countries' would cover all those 'others' where I don't actually know anyone. I was afraid that using 'All Countries' would create a conflict in the rules. Thank you for your clarification. But since I am using a Facebook marketing plan, with several corners of the world being launching points, I thought "what the hell". Also, there were not actually individual rates...the were France/ Europe/ World...just 3 rates applied to every country.

I put 8 grams because that is the weight of the empty envelope and someone would literally have to buy 2 CD's to put the weight over 49 grams, which I don't anticipate happening.

Question: where do I assign weight to my products? Is it the 'Edit/delete Products' sequence that generally ends in a 'Add To Cart' HTML code?

OR is it in the rules where it asks minimum weight/ max weight?

It isn't really clear why you'd tell me not to apply specific weight, currency or quantity when those are literally the factors of the rules! If the weight goes over my rule setting, (For example, someone buys two CD's) I won't have a rule for that nor do I have a cost because I can't imagine it happening. What was your thinking on this? I understand 'simplicity' if that was your idea but I only see complication if the rules aren't concise...I'll end up with errors again, won't I?

Commentary? Please understand, I know you are the master and I am the student. I just want to understand this well. I don't mean to dispute anything you say...I trust what you say 100%. I just want to understand better.

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it!

Strasbob

Hi again and my shipping calculations are better now, THANKS! ...BUT

1. 2 items in the cart doubles the shipping (and this is not true!). Even if someone were to buy 2 CD's, it will still only be 46g and not depass the rule of 00-49g in shipping weight.

2. I have pins and earrings which are very light (2g). If someone buys a pin, a set of earrings and the CD, the weight is still between my initial rule setting of 00-49g.

Question: Why are my shipping costs adjusting to products and not weight?

Question: How can I manage my settings (SHIPPING RULES) to adjust only when the cart depasses the 49g mark?

I know these are my errors and I thank you again for your clever and swift assistance!

Strasbob

Hi Monster...I kept at it and finally understand how to make my shipping rules work...thanks to you and a calculater. I needed to put kilograms in, not gram values! It was messing up the shipping calculations. Also, in the 'EDIT/ DELETE PORDUCTS' sequence, just the weight is important (for me, at least). I already gave a envelope value and size in the 'Shipping Rules' section and it began calculating two envelopes when I added a product. Now, the program adds up the weight correctly and charges for a sinlge envelope and all seems right with the world.

Thanks again for all your help and patience. You have a tough job listening to people's problems!

Strasbob

Hi Strasbob,

Glad to hear that things are working better for you. It is not strictly necessary to use weight values unless you will actively be referring to them in your internal settings. If you aren't charging by weight you aren't going to gain anything from the effort of adding in accurate weight values for your products and packaging, nor is there any need to build in weight limits on your shipping rules if you are charging a flat amount.

Remember that any limits you build into your shipping rules will just require that you make more shipping rules to cover orders outside of those limits, or produce more errors. The less restrictions you build in the less you have to worry about.

Another important setting within your products is Packaging Capacity. On the same screen within the products where you set weight and packaging type you are able to enter how many units will fit into a single package. Even if you normally ship in an envelope that holds only one CD it is still not a good idea to set your capacity to 1 -- this means our system will always add a new envelope (and more weight/cost/etc) for each unit ordered. Set your capacity to the highest number of units that you can fit into a single package for a large order.

Remember that you do not need to be explicitly literal with our system, you are only programming it to produce the costs you define. Just because a product is set to ship in an envelope in your account does not mean you must actually use an envelope in all circumstances.
