Hey guys!

Currently I only use PayPal to let users buy from me. I don't have PayPal Pro, so buyers checkout on PayPal instead of the default e-junkie Checkout page. When I say e-Junkie checkout page, I'm referring to this: 42https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24320670/cartbefore.PNG42

I tested PayPal Pro on my site once, but as soon as I found out that this was how the checkout page looked, I decided not to implemented. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but that page is ugly! Specially for a checkout page in 2015. From the Serif font (is that Times News Roman?) to the boxes, it just doesn't look like something that's safe. If my buyers are anything like me, they would not feel confident entering their payment info in there.

I have a solution though! Why don't you guys update the CSS of that page? I know that you can't allow users to update it themselves because of security reasons, but isn't it about time (since it's 2015 an all) that you guys redesign that page to look like something modern?

I did a test. Using Firebug I was able to update the CSS of that page. It took me 20 minutes to come to this result: 17https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24320670/cartafter.PNG17

Here's before: 42https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24320670/cartbefore.PNG42

Here's After: 17https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24320670/cartafter.PNG17

It's no argument that the After looks a lot better, and that's something I threw together in 20 minutes! I would sooner enter my payment info on the updated form than the current one.

So my request is, could you guys please, please I'm begging you, update the current checkout page? Just make it look cool and modern. If I can do this in 20 minutes, by just spending a couple hours you guys could create something that looks super sexy! Could you do that? Think of how much better it would be. I would implement it in my checkout process immediately.

Thanks for your suggestions, and we agree that page is getting pretty long in the tooth by now. I've actually already prepared a new and improved card-based checkout page that, aside from having a more modern appearance, will also be fully responsive, adapting its layout to fit within the available screen width on mobile devices. I'm hoping Development can get started on implementing this as soon as our new site and Admin go live within the next couple-few weeks. :^)

Man, that is so awesome to hear! Thank you! Glad you noticed that a change was needed!

Does "card based" mean we no longer have to force all buyers to go through paypal's interface unless they want to pay that way? That would be wonderful!

"Card-based" just refers to when the buyer clicks the Pay With Credit Card checkout button to pay with a card directly instead of paying through PayPal. Buyers who click the PayPal checkout button in your cart, or who click a Buy Now button for PayPal, would still have to go through PayPal's checkout site.

Thanks.... Sorry, I just hate that it's difficult for my customer to see the option to pay by cr card. And when they do click on "I don't have a paypal account" the next screen, where they fill in cr card info makes them think they may be applying for paypal acct - Since right above the cr card fields it says "optional, join paypal for faster future checkout".

But thanks so much for improving the checkout page so it will be fully responsive.

Thanks. I see that Paypal Pro would meet my needs. I'll look into it. If it's not too costly.

PayPal Pro would be a good option if you also need to charge card payments for "offline" orders by mail/fax/phone; however, if you only need to accept card payments for online orders, PayPal Advanced would be sufficient, and PayPal charges only $5/mo for Advanced vs. $30/mo for Pro.

Yes. We only need it for online. Thanks for the tip. That will save a few dollars.

Is there any update on the improved checkout interface? Or other plans for updating the shopping cart?

We've actually just hired a couple new developers who will soon be tasked with modernizing our shopping cart and card-based checkout pages, among other updates already in the works including a new file uploader (currently in alpha testing), adding support for new payment services such as Stripe, and much more. When these and any other major new features and functionality go live, we will announce them in our Service Status & Updates subforum here:

takethreeThat is great news, looking forward to the modernizations!

And so was the OP about a year ago. Typical e-junkie service!
