I have been searching the forums and Flat rate seems to be confusing and I can't find an answer. I'm excited to get eJunkie up and running on my website but this questions is holding me back.

I would like to set up a FLAT RATE shipping rate for (3) different products.

Product A:

Shipping only in US and a flat rate of $7

Product B:

Shipping worldwide and flat rate of $2 (even if they order 2 or more)

Product C:

Shipping worldwide and flat rate of FREE

If customer orders over $150 then shipping is free.

If a customer orders all three of these, they will ship in the same container and would like the highest rate ($7) for the shipping total. If it is not possible to ship one product just in US and others abroad -- then -- how do I do this for just ONLY US shipping on all the products.

How do I do this???

thanks

We don't have a way to specify permitted shipping destinations on a product-specific basis, so the closest we could suggest would be making US shipping so exorbitant on your Product A that nobody outside the US would actually follow through with ordering it; otherwise, we can just limit shipping to US-only for all your products.

Do you want Product A to ship for a flat rate of $7 per order, regardless of how many items are ordered, or a flat rate of $7 per unit ordered?

Thank you for the reply! Yes I would like Product A to ship at $7 per order regardless of how many items ordered. Also, if someone buys Product B, it would be shipped at a different flat rate per order. If someone ordered product A and product B, I would ship in the same box, and then the higher shipping cost would default for the order. thank you!

I think the best way to accomplish this would be using a special property of our packaging calculator for the Tube package types (don't worry, you won't literally have to ship in tubes), which consolidate all items configured with Tube packaging into any unoccupied capacity in the largest Tubes defined for products in the same order. I've also figured out how to exclude non-US orders for your $7-shipping product.

First, to offer free shipping on orders over $150, go to Seller Admin > Cart Discounts:

Discount Name: Free Shipping over $150

Discount Codes: [leave blank]

Min. Item Total: 150.00

Discount: 100%

Applies to: Shipping

Click Submit to save the discount.

Go to Seller Admin > View/Edit/Delete Products:

Select an existing shippable product of yours and click Edit;

On the first screen, if Shipping/Buyer's Address is not checked there, tick that box;

Click Next until you reach the Shipping Options screen;

  • Weight: 1.0 for the $7-shipping product, or 0.0 for the others;
  • Package type - select the appropriate type for the product:

    . . Large Tube for the $7-shipping product;

    . . Regular Tube for the $2-shipping product;

    . . Small Tube for the free-shipping product;
  • Capacity: 9999 for all products.

Click Next until you can Submit to save settings;

Repeat this for all your tangible goods;

When adding new shippable products, remember to enable Shipping/Buyer's Address and select the appropriate packaging type.

Go to Seller Admin > Cart Shipping Settings and set up the following:

Shipping Origin: select United States and enter your zipcode;

Shipping Destinations: if you will only ship to certain countries, select them in the list, or otherwise select nothing for Worldwide shipping;

Define Packaging:

  • Large Tube: Cost = 7.00
  • Reg. Tube: Cost = 2.00

Leave all other settings blank or 0.00;

Click Next to save settings and proceed to the Shipping Rules screen.

In the Existing Shipping Rules menu, select and Delete any Rules you may have saved there.

This rule will allow shipping to any of your Shipping Destination countries only when the $7-shipping product is not being ordered:

Shipping Rate Calculator: Flat;

Shipping Amount: 0.00

Country: All Countries;

Max. Weight: 0.1

Click Submit to save the Rule.

This rule will allow shipping only to the US when the $7-shipping product is ordered:

Shipping Rate Calculator: Flat;

Shipping Amount: 0.00

Country: United States;

Min. Weight: 1.0

Click Submit to save the Rule.

Click Back to Admin, and you're done!

Initially, I was selling dvds to US and International buyers and I was able to set flat rates for this.

Now, I am selling a product that weighs about an ounce or less. I need to charge lower flat rates than those I've set for dvds. I need to set two flat rates: $5 for US buyers and $15 for international buyers. How do I do this?

I've tried to do what you suggested above - at least applied it to my problem - but I end up with a pull down menu in the checkout page, showing two shipping rates. apparently, it'd be up to the buyer to pick which shipping rates apply to their purchase.

Wow - I'm impressed with the customer service at e-junkie! thank you very much. I will implement this and let you know how it goes.

I am also having some difficulty assigning a flat $7 shipping. I go to the shipping area and impute $7.00 and leave all other areas zero and submit but each time someone buys a book from me, no shipping is added to the order.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Make sure you have also setup your product to use shipping. Go to Seller Admin>View/Edit/Delete Products, select the product in the drop down menu and click Edit. Once the edit screen opens add a check mark to the box for Shipping/Buyer's Address and then click Next until you can submit the changes.

21 days later

Thanks for the help. I did as you suggested and noticed that there already was a check mark next to shipping/buyer's address. Still when people buy a book they are not charged shipping. just the price of the book.

Am I missing anything?

Make sure you are using E-junkie Cart buttons to sell your product, as shipping must be calculated in the buyer's shopping cart before they proceed to checkout.

Buy Now buttons bypass the cart and take buyers directly to instant checkout for just one item at a time, so in that case there is no chance to calculate shipping in the cart before checkout.

I have three products, two of which I want to have a flat rate shipping of $15.00, and the other to have a flat rate of $10.00. How would I do that?? I'm sure I'll have other products with the same requirement.

Thanks

I'm sorry, but can you give us all the details of how you want to setup your shipping? It is better for us to give you all the steps instead of giving you steps for one group of products and then possibly needing to replace the rules that were created in favor of ones that work for all of your products. If you can provide shipping rates, for domestic and international, if you plan to allow international buyers. Also, does the $15 and $10 amounts you mentioned for any amount of those products ordered of is if for each one? If someone orders two of product number 1 would it be $30 for shipping?
