Hello, this is my first post in the forum community. I've searched for info on how to use a Facebook conversion tracking pixel on my E-Junkie thank you page but can't seem to find a solid answer. I'm attempting to track the profitability and effectiveness from running Facebook ads all the way to the point of sale of my ebook. I am using the standard e-junkie 'buy now' button links that send the user from my website to the e-junkie checkout process through e-junkie.

According to Facebook I just need to copy and paste their code snippet between the <head> and </head> of the page I'd like to track. It seems to me the only way to do this is to create a custom thank you page via E-Junkie. Looking in the instructions for custom thank you pages I see this message from E-Junkie:

"If you customize your E-junkie-generated thank-you pages with Common Thank-you Page HTML, or with a Message (HTML) in the product settings of any item in the buyer's order, that will disable the default message shown above and display your custom HTML instead (see example at the end of this help page)."

Does this mean I need to create an entirely new HTML page that includes the Facebook code snippet in between the <head> and </head> of the page I'd like to track? Or is there a way to do add this snippet between the <head> and </head> of the thank you page without messing with HTML while only using the standard E-Junkie generated thank you page?

A quick note: I also intend to utilize Google Analytics to track google ads I will create all through the point of sale for the sale E-Junkie ebook I am selling. I didn't know if this info would change what I will be required to do but thought it was worth throwing out there. Thanks for your help!

-Mike

It may be recommended but not strictly necessary to put FB's tracking code in the HEAD of your thank-you pages; if it can work in the BODY, you could just put that in your Account Preferences > Common Thank-you Page HTML (which would be inserted once near the end of every thank-you page we generate for you), or in the "Message (HTML)" field of the product's settings (which would be inserted after the name of that product only on thank-you pages we generate for orders of that item).

If the FB tracking code really must be in the HEAD for some reason, I think this help page may be relevant for what you're trying to accomplish:

Note that Google AdWords tracking is (or can be) separate from Google Analytics tracking; if all you really need is conversion tracking for AdWords, you can simply paste your AdWords tracking code into your thank-you page, whether you're redirecting to a page on your site or using your standard E-junkie-generated thank-you pages.

If you will be using our custom version of the Google Analytics tracking code, you would need to use that version of the code on every page where you want GA tracking, including the thank-you page on your site (the latter is not necessary if you're using standard E-junkie-generated thank-you pages). Our version of GA tracking code is documented here:

Awesome, got the Facebook pixel in the body of HTML thank you page. Not sure why Facebook insists upon it being in the header.

Created an AdWords campaign then dropped the adwords conversion tracking code into the thank you page underneath the Facebook tracking snippet. I'm using the standard E-Junkie thank you page. One question: I see a message that the "REF/URL GET param did not match with the actual URL". How should I fix this? Googles explanation from this message is here: https://support.google.com/tagassistant/answer/2978937?hl=en#ref2url.

Sorry for the multiple questions recently, I'm just getting going here and have dug in as much as I could in the forum to find answers before reaching out to you!

From the error description you linked, it appears that should only happen if you were following the method suggested at the first link in my reply above, redirecting to a thank-you page on your site and embedding an IFRAME in your page to display your E-junkie-generated thank-you page content; in this case, you would need to put your AdWords conversion tracking code in your site's thank-you page, rather than in your E-junkie thank-you page customization fields.

Yes, that was the section I was reading and referring to, and none of the reasons explained there would be relevant to having the AdWords tracking code inserted into your E-junkie-generated thank-you pages.

By any chance might you be using the EJEJC_BEACON cart customization parameter in your View Cart code? If so, I wonder if that could be what's actually producing the error, rather than the code in your thank-you pages.

Hi I am about to try to add the facebook pixel and I wanted to ask Mikenewton if he has had success with it after all.
