I have a product that has 20 different colors with different prices and have set up a product with variants to handle this.

I would like for a discount to apply for ordering multiples of this product. For example, ordering 5 or more gets one discount, ordering 10 or more gets a larger discount. Ideally, I would like the discount to be a per cent off the total for this item (not for all items purchased), but my understanding is that discounts must be set up as a dollar discount, not a percent off. I can work with that, but am not sure how to set up the different discount based on quantity purchased.

Can this be done?

We do have a workaround for product-specific discounts that take a percentage (rather than a flat amount) off the item's original per-unit price. Just set up the product-specific discount where you enter the discount amount as 0.00XX where XX would be your desired percentage -- e.g., for 25% off, you would enter 0.0025.

To get a range of volume discounts, just set up each discount with the Min. Item Quantity threshold required to qualify for that discount. For discounts applied to the same product, those with higher min. thresholds would automatically override those with lower thresholds -- e.g., a discount for 25% off 10 or more would automatically override a discount for 20% off 5 or more of the same product. Make sure you give each discount a unique Discount Name, as that's how our system distinguishes one discount from another. Leave the Discount Code blank if you want the discount to be applied automatically when an order reaches the min. threshold you require to qualify for that discount.

Thanks for the workaround on the percentage. May give it a try.

I did get the range of volume dollar discounts to work perfectly, just as you describe.

Thanks again.
