I'm a little confused about Authorize.net. There are a lot of companies offering Authorize.net transactions. Can I just choose any provider and link it to my E-junkie account?

If so, is there any difference in how they work?

Thanks

We're not quite sure what you mean? Authorize.Net is just a payment gateway, which is basically the online equivalent of an in-store card-swipe/keypad terminal.

Authorize.Net needs to be used with a separate "merchant account", which is a type of bank account that allows you to authorize and accept card-based payments directly into that account's balance (rather than using a "middleman" type of payment processor such as PayPal or Google Checkout, where the buyer actually pays them, and then they in turn pay those funds to you).

Some Authorize.Net resellers provide merchant accounts that work with Authorize.Net, and these should work fine to accept checkout payments for our service. Other resellers may provide a shopping cart service like ours that can handle checkouts using Authorize.Net, or others may provide post-checkout order fulfillment or processing services, and these really just duplicate what we already do and thus would have no purpose if you're using E-junkie.

In fact, E-junkie itself is an Authorize.Net reseller, so of course we'd prefer you sign up for Authorize.Net using our own Reseller link, if you'd like to kick a cut of your Authorize.Net service fees back our way. :^)

Thanks for the info. I guess that I was confused on exactly what Authorize.net is. Your explanation helped clear it up a little.

I am looking to accept credit cards. However, it will be used for a few different things other than just my E-junkie products. I was hoping to find a payment solution that I could use for E-junkie as well other transactions. It sounds like any account that takes Authorize.net can be used for E-junkie products which was what I was wondering.

Regarding E-Junkie's Authorize.net account, can it be used for other products outside of what I have for my E-junkie products? For example, my wife sells Jewelery that she makes (not on the internet). Can we charge people's credit cards directly through E-junkie's Authorize.net account even though the items are not listed in my E-junkie account?

I see that it has a virtual terminal which I'm guessing may work for this. I've never had a merchant account so its all just a bit new and confusing to me.

Thanks

There is nothing on E-junkie's side that would keep you from being able to use your Authorize.net account for products outside of E-junkie. As long as there is not a problem on Authorize.net's side you should have no problem using it for transaction in both your E-junkie account and your wife's jewelry business.

So you know, you will not see the information for those transactions listed in your E-junkie transaction log.
