Wordpress.com and selling

Right now my biggest ecommerce operation runs off of a self-hosted Wordpress installation. I'm thinking of starting a new site focusing more on my books and entertainment side, live shows and so on. So I'd much rather use Wordpress.com - hosted - as it cuts down on maintenance tasks.



You can't sell directly from a Wordpress.com site, even with your own domain mapped to it. That's fine. But I'm thinking of having a second E-Junkie account with the store purely on E-Junkie. And simply to have a navigation button on the Wordpress.com site saying "STORE."



Maybe also link from blog posts to various products on the E-Junkie store.



Does anyone have any experience of doing something similar, using Wordpress.com? If so, any thoughts would be appreciated. I will contact Wordpress, but thought I'd see what people think here first.

You could list your products in the E-junkie marketplace and link to them from your Wordpress site rather than putting our buttons on that site directly. Our help page for creating marketplace listings is here:

The marketplace itself isn't going to drive a lot of sales your way, so listing products there works best when you are actively promoting them elsewhere, such as on your own site.

Yes, I use E-Junkie on my current site with a self-hosted Wordpress. The critical plugin is RAW HTML. You HAVE to have that. And it's great all round. Whatever I do, I'll be using E-Junkie because it's not only excellent, but I haven't had a single problem with it after using it over a year.



I probably should create my new site on a self-hosted Wordpress. It's just I don't fancy two sites to do all the techie stuff with.
