Want discount applied to each item

What do i need to do to have a discount applied to each item. For example...i set a discount for an item for 2.00, but if someone updates their cart to a quantity of 4, i want the discount to be $2.00 per item, making the total discount $8.00. how do i do that?

That's how it works by default for "item discount codes" that you add in each item's configuration from E-junkie Admin.
