Update Email for FREE CHECKOUT People

Hi,



thanks for the chance to ask a questions I can't find a solution. maybe it has been solved here and if so please point me to the thread as I have not found anything.



we are selling normaly over paypal but some people do banktransfer and we then hook up a 100% discount code to make them download the product on the website so we have their contact details etc.



but we just found out, that if there is a update for the product and we send out the email/newsletter to the buyers group of that product. these people are not included. first, is that true? and second, anyone has an idea for me how I can fix that. it's a couple of people actually, so that would be lots of work to do that manually.

It depends whether the buyer checked the "Sign up for product updates and newsletter" box when they went through Free Checkout; if they did not tick that box, they would not be added to the Buyer Group list for that product.



You may wish to use "Send free download link" in your Seller Admin to issue free links to those buyers, and this gives you the option of including a link they can click to join the mailing list for that product; when you send the link, you can enter a custom Email Message urging them to click that link if they wish to receive free updates for the product. You may wish to send yourself a free test link or two to see how the message turns out and fine-tune your custom Email Message for free links if/as needed.

ok, I know about the free link thingy and have tested and used that already. thanks for getting back to me. it does make sense that people have to click that update checkbox. good to hear that it wasn't our failure.
