Sorry for the delay in responding to your forum post. Make sure when testing the Aweber integration that you are placing a check mark in the box to, "Sign-up for product updates and newsletter." You can also change the Aweber address in the setup with your personal address to see if the e-mail that we would send Aweber is sent to your address.

can u confirm that in a real live purchase, ie- money paid for item - that the email is parsed to aweber without them having to tick this box?

Kinda weird doing a test purchase of an item set at $0 not being able to fully test the system I think!

PayPal buyers will always be opted-in, so those buyers' info should always be sent to Aweber if you have it set up. Other checkout methods may support an opt-in/-out, so in those cases the buyer would need to opt-in for their info to be sent to Aweber.

When the buyer's info is sent to Aweber, they should send the buyer an email asking them to confirm their subscription. If that message doesn't arrive, the recipient should check their spam folder in case it wound up in there.

I use Paypal Pro and it seems to require a manual opt-in now for the aWeber autoresponder sequence to be activated. When I used Paypal Standard it didn't.

Unless I'm adding 2+2 and making 5...

Correct, PayPal Standard does not have any provision for an opt-in/-out, so we opt-in all those buyers be default; PayPal Pro requires a voluntary opt-in to add the buyer to any mailing list during checkout, so in that case we provide a checkbox the buyer must tick during checkout to join the list.

So if the price is NOT set to $0, does it still require people to tick the box?

If the buyer checks out via PayPal, then they will be opted-in automatically for subscription to your list, as they don't even have a box to tick at all.

Other payment processors may require the buyer to opt-in deliberately (e.g. by ticking a checkbox) to have their info submitted for subscription to a list.

Note that Aweber in particular also sends new subscribers a confirmation email with a link they must click to confirm their wish to subscribe, even if they opt-in deliberately during checkout.

Thanks! I'm letting them know about the confirmation email -- I just didn't know if I had to explain about the tick box.
