Indeed. That was my reaction as well. Although, I wasn't necessarily expecting a response, so one is better than none.
That said, a quick search of the forums for the phrase "DHTML" shows that the new admin has been used as an excuse since June 2011, 8 months verging on 9.
This search shows that it delays other things like shipping method variations, buyer interaction issues, etc.
Things are just stockpiling behind this delay.
