I'm setting up products for a shop that has two very different shipping types. The first is a standard, USPS shippable box for small gift items. The second is a flat rate crating charge for large objects (doors). For either one, there is a no-charge pickup option. My question is, if someone orders both types of item in the same order, can these two different shipping charges be applied and how would I set that up?

Thanks.

Could you explain the USPS box rate(s) you'll be using for the smaller items? Will that be a flat rate per item, flat rate per box holding up to X number of items, or just using our live rate lookup based on the weight and destination?

Go to Seller Admin > Cart Shipping Settings and set up the following:

* Shipping Origin: select United States and enter your zipcode;

* Shipping Destinations: if you will only ship to certain countries, select them in the list, or otherwise select nothing for Worldwide shipping;

* Set the Cost of a Large Box to equal your door crate-shipping charge;

* Set the Weight of a Regular Box to equal the empty weight of whatever container you use to ship smaller items (include the weight of any packing/padding materials the box would require independently of each unit ;

* Click Next to save settings and proceed to the Shipping Rules screen.

In the Existing Shipping Rules menu, select and Delete any Rules you may have saved there.

Set up your first Shipping Rule:

* Shipping Rate Calculator: pick a USPS method (Priority is recommended, or Cheapest will compare First Class vs. Priority and apply whichever is cheaper);

* Leave all other settings alone;

* Click Submit to save the Rule.

Set up another Shipping Rule for your free Pick-up option:

* Shipping Rate Calculator: Pickup;

* Leave all other settings alone;

* Click Submit to save the Rule.

Click Back to Admin.

Go to Seller Admin>View/Edit/Delete Products:

* Select an existing door product of yours and click Edit;

* On the first screen, if Shipping/Buyer's Address is not checked there, tick that box;

* Click Next until you reach the Shipping Options screen;

- Weight: 0.00 (this excludes the door from USPS rate calculations);

- Package type: Large Box;

- Capacity: 1 (or however many doors can ship together for the same crate-shipping rate);

* Click Next until you can Submit to save settings;

* Repeat this for all your door products.

Go to Seller Admin>View/Edit/Delete Products:

* Select an existing smaller, mailable product of yours and click Edit;

* On the first screen, if Shipping/Buyer's Address is not checked there, tick that box;

* Click Next until you reach the Shipping Options screen;

- Weight: actual weight for each unit of this product (include the weight of any packing/padding materials each unit would normally require for shipping before being placed in the shipping box);

- Package type: Regular Box;

- Capacity: Number of units of this product that can ship together in the same Regular Box;

* Click Next until you can Submit to save settings;

* Repeat this for all your smaller, mailable products.

When adding any new tangible products, remember to enable Shipping/Buyer's Address and select the proper package type (Large Box for doors, or Regular Box for smaller items).
