Hi,This issues had been bothering me and need to know how e-junkie will handle such situation. When I am selling a product with inventory control and I have 1 Piece in stock (with pin /registration code) and 2 customers at the same time press the add to cart & then buy button or else a customer have the stock in his shopping cart and after few time decide to press buy now with paypal.Or I have 3 Pieces in stock customer 1 will add to cart x2 Pieces and customer 2 add to cart x3 Pieces then they press Buy now. What will happen? Could there be any issues? What will happen to the second customer since the first customer received the Pin/registration code?I know you might ask 2 customers at the same time? Yes it could in our case.We don't sell digital products but stocked products. We use PayPal standard.ThanksJeff
Hi Jeff,This is a known issue that we go over in our documentation here:http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/trouble.inventory-oversold.htmUnfortunately the solution to this problem would be even worse than the problem itself. If we were to allocate inventory to each person that opened up their cart, all of your inventory could be tied up immediately by people who change their mind and back out without ordering. Two sales made (or at least started) at the same time will go through regardless of your inventory count, although this does not tend to be an issue unless your sales always come in large batches in short periods of time.
Hi,In such case will sell with -1 qty what will display [%codes%] in the customer email?ThanksJeff
Jeff,In a case with two codes being sold like this, the first person who's payment was completed would get a code and the second person would get a notice instead of the code saying there are no codes and to contact the merchant.
