HI ,

I was reading the documentation about remote hosting. I understand it allows larger files but I'm less worried about that and more worried about fast downloads.

If I host with Amazon S3 will there be a perceivable difference in download speed ?

I've seen it mentioned that after 15 minutes you sync the file to S3 yourselves anyway so are all the files always (apart from the first 15 minutes) served from your S3 server ? Or is that only when I'm hosting mine remotely ?

If you already server them all from S3 yourselves then there isn't much point in me doing it as well

How large are the files you are looking to sale? Currently your account shows two products and no files uploaded.

Yes the site isn't live yet so those two products are just for me to test the carts and payments. When the products go up they will vary. Some will be approx 50MB and some will be probably between 300 and 400 MB. So to the 500MB upload limit is not what I'm worried about. I'm purely curious as to whether there is a speed advantage to me having my own S3 account.

Apart from when we first access the file and anytime we access the file if you update it, no there will likely be no real advantage.
