I have a question..

we sell a digital download product...

we were approached by a vendor about purchasing in bulk codes/coupons, good for 1 free download of their choice..etc

to include with his 'hardware purchase' made on his site.

question is: is there some way to make or sell (in bulk) multiple, 'unique' codes or vouchers of some kind?

sort of a digital gift certificate/code of some kind?

Also..side question:

If you re-activate/re-issue a download (because they lost it could DL it..etc..whatever the claim) does this count/get added into the stats again? Or ignored? and ONLY shows under the freebie logs?

Thanks

The vouchers you describe would be like setting up online gift coupons, just without creating a product to sell the gift coupon codes (since you'd be providing a list of codes to your vendor partner for them to distribute):

The only downloads shown in your Free Downloads Log would be free links you issue either manually using "Send free download link" or in bulk using "Send Updates / Newsletter" in your Seller Admin. All other links issued as a result of placing an order (even orders with a 0.00 total or re-activated links) would be shown in your regular Transaction Log. Reactivating a link simply resets the expiration countdowns on that link, so for a reactivated link your log would only show Attempts made since the link had been reset.

Thanks for the reply.

Im still a bit confused on how this whole gift certificate or coupon stuff works.. or at least if it will work the way we would like.

I dont want to make a 'product' (per se`) for a gift certificate/coupon code.. to have it listed/sold in our store..

We are looking to bulk sell/pre-pay for these codes to one person.. and they divide the codes up to whomever,.. as they see fit

gift certificates/codes (not for a specific product.. which I though I read is allowed).. to subtract an 'amount' of the final price..

but we do NOT want to have say 50 'coupon codes' listed as products in our store front for anyone to buy...

I just want to give (sell) these coupon codes to a partner.. so he can add/give one of these codes to his customers to accompany their purchase from him.

I understand the step in this section:

Set up your Gift Coupon discount codes

but Im not sure the section above or below apply to what we want to do.

So.. example..

I follow the steps outlined in the: "Set up your Gift Coupon discount codes" section..

I create/generate 'xx' codes....

then what? I can just send these 'codes' to our 'partner'..? and thats it?

side questions..

if an item is purchased using this coupon code.. does it somehow 'note' that on the transaction logs somewhere?

Just trying to understand how it all works..and if it can be tweaked to what we are looking to accomplish.

Thanks

On the page I linked, you would follow the instructions in the "Set up your Gift Coupon discount codes" section (and just disregard the section on "Set up your Gift Coupon product to sell online"), then provide your partner with the list of codes you'd pasted when you created the discount.

Note that you should save the list somewhere (such as a Notepad .txt file) before you copy and paste it into the discount settings, since our system would not retain the codes in that same list format once you Submit the new discount. Submitting a new discount with a list of codes actually creates a series of identical but separate discounts, one for each code in your list.

Your partner would simply distribute codes from the list you provide them. When a buyer places an order on your site and redeems a code, you would see that code listed among the order's details in your E-junkie Transaction Log:

thanks for the reply..

I ave read that page.. still have some questions.

1.) because in 'theory' these coupon codes we give/sell to our partner to divvy out as they see fit with their 'product'.... this 'could' (should) make most of our products 'free'...

I read that if its 'free'.. they need to enter in more details?..

Is this mandatory?

2.) the only difference then would be that these details woudl go in the FREE DL log..instead of the normal transactions log...correct?

Im just trying to wrap my head around.. how 'payment' of these can be handled..

we want to 'sell' (say) 50 codes to our partner.. (not list 50 'codes' on our site as products and have him buy them all).. but send him this list... that he can give out when he sees fit

At that time...we would get all money up front him....

but that would throw our 'books' off.. since we want to keep the money given for those bulk codes... 'in tune' with when they are actually used/purchased.. (and to keep track of the items purchased...etc each month...etc)

If the buyer's order total is 0.00 because they redeemed a discount code with a value equal to or greater than the price of item(s) in their cart, they would be able to use our cart's Free Checkout method to place their order:

http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/free-checkout.htm

The Free Downloads Log only lists any links you issue directly from Seller Admin, using either "Send free download link" or "Send Updates / Newsletter". Free Checkout orders would still show up in your regular Transaction Log, showing a 0.00 price paid. It is not possible to log the full original price as being paid when that is not what was actually received from the buyer, so you will need to account for voucher purchases some other way -- perhaps by downloading your log and amending your downloaded copy in a spreadsheet program to add the original bulk-voucher purchase value.

Is there a way to see this FREE CHECK OUT CART or whatever??

Id liek to knwo what my customers may possibly be seeing?

or do I need to make a 0.00 dollar product to see?

You can make a secret discount code that only you know, good for 100% off the item total, and enter that code in your cart when you test the cart buttons on your site.

(what happened to the rest of my post!? yikes!) LOL

I made a quick test coupon.. and made a product for the matching amount ($1.00)

Is there any way to edit/alter that big old WHITE page that is the 'free cart' page?

(ouch!) LOL

Also I notice there is two fields in the logs that can be used to flag a 'coupon purchase'.

Payment Processor:

&

Discount Codes:

But is there any place that logs/tracks the Discount NAME?

or how about the amount of the coupon?

(cumulative or individually?)

thanks

The Free Checkout page is an aspect of our system shared in common among all sellers using our service, so it cannot be customized, aside from uploading a custom logo/header image (in Seller Admin > Edit Profile).

The Payment Processor column only indicates the checkout method (PayPal, Google Checkout, E-junkie Free Checkout, etc.). We only indicate the Discount Code(s) applied to the order and/or show "Current Promotion" if the order was eligible for an automatic (no-code) discount; the Discount Name and amount are not shown in the log. Discount Codes are also shown for each discount in your Seller Admin > Cart Discounts > Existing Discounts menu. You may wish to use Discount Codes that all have a common prefix (perhaps corresponding to the Discount Name or indicating the partner distributing your codes), so you could identify the specific discount applied that way.
