Hi there,



I'm sure you are tired of people asking for help with shipping questions. So I apologize in advance. I simply cannot figure out how to set my shipping correctly, and just received an order from Canada which didn't charge any shipping.



Here is what I want. Can you please tell me how to accomplish it?



FYI: I am shipping from the US.



1. I would like all orders shipped to addresses in the US to be charged a flat fee of $12.95.



2. I would like orders to all other countries to calculate the shipping for THEIR CHOICE of shipping (whether they want media mail or priority or whatever). And I would like to add $2.00 to the total for the price of the packaging (a medium-sized envelope).



Please help.

Go to Seller Admin>Edit E-junkie Cart Shipping Settings. Click the next button to go to the Rules page. First create the rule for the US. Use the Shipping Rate Calculator drop down menu and choose Flat. Enter in the amount of $12.95 and then leave the Description blank. Then use the Country drop down to select the United States. After that click Submit to save the rule. Now use the Shipping Rate Calculator drop down and Select USPS Media Mail, leave the country as all countries and click Submit. repeat this for the other shipping methods you want for the rest of the world. The more specific US flat rate will override general rules for shipping to the rest of the world. As for the $2.00 handling fee do you want that to be charged to all buyers or just those outside the US?

Thank you. Yes, $2.00 for the packaging for outside of US only. (I have already added the cost of this into the flat rate for the US customers.)

Also, am I correct that I should have removed any information from the Shipping Options area of each product, which is where the original shipping for $12.95 was set up?

P.s. I have done what you said to do, and the US calculates correctly. But when I tried to use Canada as an example, the shipping shows zero. I wonder if I am supposed to enter the weight of the package somewhere so it can calculate? (which is 2 ounces)

Yes, you would need to specify an accurate weight in the Shipping Options screen for each product. The weight will not matter for US shipments, since you have configured a Flat rate for those.



To add $2 handling to ALL orders, you would to to Admin > Shipping, set a Handling charge as 2.00 Flat, then click next to reach Shipping Rules. This will be applied to ALL orders, so you'll need to adjust your US Flat rate to "uncombine" the Handling from that rate.



Select the Rule for your US-only Flat rate, then click Delete to remove the Rule. Use the Shipping Rate Calculator drop down menu and choose Flat. Enter in the new amount of $10.95 and then leave the Description blank or call it something like "US Flat Rate". Then use the Country drop down to select the United States. After that click Submit to save the rule.

Except...



I was testing it with various addresses I know, and tried our friends from Sweden. They don't have a "zip code", so it didn't charge them any shipping whatsoever. Any ideas?

Actually, Sweden does have postal codes; they appear before the City name (rather than after, as in the US):

However, you don't appear to have any Shipping Rules configured for Sweden specifically nor for All Countries (you only have rules for US and Canada), so attempting to select Sweden with a valid postal code in your cart produces an -error- where the shipping amount should go.

Hi Tyson -- Thank you soooo much. After I called the post office and found out it would cost around $20 to send my $25 book to Sweden, I decided to just keep things easy and send only to US and Canada. But I knew how to set it up perfectly thanks to the editorials in this thread. So thank you again!!!



Now, my final question:



After setting up the rules of the US and Canada, I tried to "purchase" a book from Sweden without a postal code, and it looks like it can be purchased without any shipping at all. Which has now brought be full circle. Oy!



So my question is: Is there a way to be sure the other countries are not able to purchase the book so I don't have to deal with tracking them down and asking them to pay the shipping?

When you go into your Shipping Settings on the first page you can choose Shipping Destinations. If you only want to ship to the US and Canada, then just select the US and Canada on the list. People from other parts of the world will not be able to select their country.

How can I collect billing and shipping address. I am using Paypal standard. Thank you in advance for your help.

If you are using E-junkie with PayPal, make sure you enable Shipping/Buyer's Address in the settings of each product that should trigger collection of an address during checkout.



We can only capture a shipping address; a billing address is never collected for regular PayPal, and even if you upgrade to PayPal Website Payments Pro or Authorize.Net in order to accept card-based direct payments, we can only obtain a billing address during checkout to verify cardholder identity, so that information cannot be retained.

The buyer's address is collected during checkout, not in the cart before checkout. If the buyer pays from a PayPal account, their address would be provided automatically from their account profile.
