PayPal Websites Payment Pro Question

Hi,



I have upgraded from PayPal Websites Payment Standard to PayPal Websites Payment Pro for the reason of wanting the customer to remain on the same page when they click on "Add To Cart."

But when you click on my "Add To Cart" button for my website, it takes you to another page: http://howtofocusbetter.com/ultimate-focus-guide/



I have followed the e-junkie Steps 1-4 for integrating PayPal and e-junkie together here: http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/paypal-partner.htm and don't know what I'm doing wrong...



Can you help me?

Actually, PayPal Pro is not necessary if you want to have the overlay-style cart appearing "inside" your page, though it does add a checkout button to your cart for card-based direct payments.



To get the overlay cart working, you just need to make sure you paste at least one complete block of your View Cart code (it's unique to you but the same for all your products) into every page that has any number of Add to Carts. The View Cart code includes a section of javascript that manages the cart overlay in your page.

One more last thing...



I noticed that there is a difference in appearance of overlay-style cart pages, even though now it's "inside" my page, compared to the other person's overlay-style cart page.

You'll notice that mine has white background for the text, while his has gray-shaded boxes as backgrounds for the text. The latter looks more professional for business in my opinion.



I was wondering if there was any way I can also make it like that?

That is coming from the CSS in your WordPress theme, which the overlay cart is inheriting because it works as a part of your page. Figuring out how to override that would require some Web design expertise, for which this help page provides tips on how to proceed with sorting it out:

Hi, I have tried what I think would work to change it like the other person's cart, but with no luck...



After installing Firefox's View Source Cart, the directions say:



"You might consider just making exceptions for the cart by adding style rules for the div#EJEJC_window selector at the end of your CSS. E.g., if your site's CSS is making the cart appear all-black, you might do something like this to override that and make the cart background white again: div#EJEJC_window {background-color:#FFF;}".



So I looked at my cart again:

2. Next, I went to W3Schools and selected a color. I chose gray instead: #C0C0C0



3. Finally, I went to my Dashboard Editor, and inserted these two codes at the end of my style.css:

div#EJEJC_window {background-color:#C0C0C0: !important;

}



But when I went back to my webpage http://howtofocusbetter.com/ultimate-focus-guide/ and pressed "Add To Cart", the cart still looks the same as before...



Do you know what I am doing wrong?

The fact that you have the option for 'credit cards' (3rd button on the right)means you have pro, right?



I checked PP pro because I thought I had it - I pay an extra $20/month to pp for something, I thought it was pp pro - but then there was an error code that came up when people clicked on it.



So, I had to uncheck PRO, called pp and they said it was another $30 a month to have pp Pro.



So, now my clients can use cc but they have to click on a pp button first.

Go to any of the "download' purchase buttons and you'll see what I mean.



So, my question is, is there any way that I can get that nice "Use your cc" button like on Hubly's page without having another upgrade on my account?

Hi fitdream, I think you have to upgrade your account to pro if you want your customers to have an additional credit card button, other than the PayPal one. That's the extra $30 you're paying for. I don't think you have to upgrade your account to pro if you just want to have the cart "inside" your page though; that can be done via a plugin.



P.S. The Green Academy Exam is not my website.



P.P.S. How were you able to add the gray shaded boxes behind your text in your cart page? What CSS code did you put in? I'm still trying to figure this out... Hopefully I'll get a response soon...

Hulby, then you have "Pro", is that correct? Why did you decide to use that since people without pp can still use the pp flow for a cc without Pro?



Which gray shaded boxes? What do they say? I looked and am not sure what you are talking about.



I think my cart IS "inside" my page - when you go there to give me more details about YOUR question, let me know!



I'm in trying to get the affiliate stuff all set up and launch that - are you doing one?

Fitdream, if you want to use PayPal Website Payments Pro to accept card-based direct payments and add the separate checkout button for that in your cart, you would need to upgrade your PayPal account to Pro and also follow our integration instructions to make proper use of that service level, as explained here:

Hulby, the cart with grey table-cell backgrounds would be our standard cart appearance; your site's WordPress theme is overriding that. Unfortunately, sorting that out is not nearly as simple as what you've described trying already. The problem really requires in-depth working experience with CSS/HTML coding and Web page layout structure, and the tips on the help page I linked are intended to point someone with that knowledge towards looking in the right places to apply their expertise.



If you're not experienced enough in Web design to be capable of, say, writing your own WordPress theme in raw code from scratch (not that such is necessary here, just indicating the level of expertise required), the easiest thing you could do would probably be simply applying different WordPress themes to your site until you find one that doesn't override our cart's standard appearance.
