Hi

I am a total newbie and have been trying to read all the docs to get this going for a couple off weeks. All I want to do is set up is an affiliate programme for one partner, so I thought it should not be soo difficult, but I am stumped.

I have a paypal account and I added the details so I am hoping that is 'set-up', but I also have a Sage Pay account for processing payments. Just looking at the what is supported, does the fact that Sage isn't listed mean I can't use ejunkie to capture sales from this one affiliate? And how does one test the paypl as it would be unfortunate if it doesn't work?

Secondly, I am extremely confused about how the system works. Granted I am highly dyslexic and reading all these documents isn't very effective - video or having someone to call and spend 5 min on the phone just answer basic questions would do wonders as I am wasting a lot of time reading (slowly) and writing this.

Likely this will go back and forth ... which is really difficult for someone this a learning disability. I understand that is how you guys work, but please do try not to fob me off to read more of your manuals. I would be grateful for some focused answers as I initially logged in under my pseudo name to test the system and when I asked questions ... I was just told to read more stuff (which has just added to the confusion).

Specifically I don't quite understand how this works. I thought I was creating a link that this affiliate could connect to a banner on their website that when people clicked on the banner they went to my site and ejunkie put a cookie on that person's computer for a set number of days. If they bought anything, than a certain % of sales would be captured that I would (lets say) end of month transfer to my affiliate. Why paypal or Sage even for that matter?

Equally why does one add products (its just going to my site) and create buttons (my site already has a shopping cart and buttons)? Does the link create another site or something and I have to design it? Equally, I have set emails, confirmations, etc .... why would I create more in ejunkie? Just really confused and unfortunately the information really doesn't answer the question (see above).

Isn't there just a quick number I can call?

All help appreciated.

Im just a user like yourself.. (and am having a terrible time trying to re-style the cart overlay page myself)..

but maybe I can help answer a few questions.. or shed some light on an 'overview on how it works a bit'.

1.)there are 'supported' payment processors that e-junkie works with..

e-junkie themselves do nothing with money themselves.... they just work as an 'in-between' to capture the results and display them.. all payment stuff is done on and through the payment processor of choice (out of all the ones supported by e-junkie I only have a PayPal account myself.. so my customers only get that option as well)..

this is JUST so the transaction the custom does, ensures the money gets deposited into you 'paypal' account...

after which some return data is sent saying transaction was ok..or not..

and depending on your settings re-directs the customer to yo download/thank you page.

I have not looked at the affiliate stuff yet (although its coming).. but believe that is just a way for you to track you 'sales' (so to speak).. you will then get your data (affiliate transaction logs??) and pay out your affiliates

from reading the end of your post.. are you sure e-junkie is the service for you???

From what 'I' gathered about e-junkie it was a way for 'me' to sell digital products/downloads.. that 'protect' the download links from being used more time than I 'sell' them (so to speak)..

Im not clear what it is you wanted to get out of e-junkie? or what your product is?

thanks

Thanks for the posting!

I have an online shop and from how I believe affilate programmes work - then ejunkie should be able to do what I think it does, but I don't understand how (or why I have to add products, buttons, and such)?

The details really don't explain it so I wonder to some extent if affiliate programmes like mine are not its bread and butter (or I am just a bit thick).

But if I understood your post - the shopping cart issue may not be relevant for me? My site does all the payment processing ... ? So the fact they don't support sage pay is key?

Hopeffully someone else will enlighten me.

E-junkie's affiliate system is a built-in part of our order handling system; it will not work as a freestanding add-on with any other cart or purchase buttons. I don't know what else I could say here that wouldn't just repeat what's already in our affiliate system's help page. Some video tutorials our clients have made -- including a few about setting up an affiliate program -- are posted to our Tumblr's Tips page here:

Once you set up your products in E-junkie Seller Admin, we provide you with ready-made HTML codes for your cart buttons. You would simply copy the codes from us and paste them into the HTML source of your own Web site pages, wherever you want our buttons to appear among your own layout, text and images. Your basic understanding of our affiliate link, referral cookie, and monthly commission pay-out is accurate, but buyers would need to place their order on your site with E-junkie purchase buttons, which would check for that cookie and track a commission for the affiliate that referred them to your site.

Bear in mind E-junkie is not a payment processor, so we do not handle any actual payment funds at any point. Buyers using your E-junkie purchase buttons would pay directly into your chosen payment processor account, such as PayPal (we do not support Sage). In order to use our shopping cart and other features of our system, you would need to have an account with at least one or more of the independent payment services we support, listed here:

http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/help.payment.processors.htm

If you require more direct assistance, we can highly recommend contacting Andrew of www.EasyE-junkie.com, an independent business that specializes in training, tutorials and live personal "walk through" guidance through the process of using E-junkie, or you can even hire him to just do everything for you. Other competent, E-junkie-experienced developers for hire are listed in our directory here:

http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/developer-directory.htm

We provide all routine support via email and here in our Forum. You can also ask some basic preliminary questions via text chat with a live agent on our site during weekday business hours; just look along the right-hand edge of our site for the "Questions? Chat with us" link, which appears whenever an agent is available for chat. In order to keep our service affordable, as with most Internet-based companies, we cannot offer live support via phone. Feel free to email us, or post here on the forum, with any questions or concerns you may have, and we'll gladly reply within less than 24 hours, usually same-day during business hours.

I don't know what this means? Sorry I am not a techie.

Does this mean that people that have other websites cannot use the affiliate programme unless they build a site that uses your functionality?

I am not even going to try to worth through the rest of the post as it may not be relevatn?

The problem with email/forum help is that if one does understand the terminology, you just go back and forth ... live chat or something would be soo much better if you can't do calls.

This is going to take forever for something that is prob really simple?

Sorry, I have read the rest of the mail and while I still don't quite get it ... I will do live chat (missed that in your help details) tomorrow as its late here.

That for trying to help.

You can use E-junkie purchase buttons on any Web site were you can paste HTML. We provide ready-made button code that you'd just copy from us and paste into your site. Our built-in affiliate program will only work with E-junkie purchase buttons, not with any other shopping cart or online purchase system. E-junkie can show your buyers a PayPal checkout button if you want to accept payment via PayPal for your E-junkie orders.

Thank you for that.

It unfortunately does not sound like ejunkie will do what I thought it does.

Do you have any recommendations or ideas of software that does?

I appreciate the posts.
