We have a training product that can be delivered in 3 ways: an online course, a downloadable e-book and a printed book. When we sell the online course, we need to give the purchaser a generated code. The e-book is a download and the physical book gets shipped. I can see how to do each of these when the items are sold individually. However, we also want to do combinations, i.e. get the online course and the downloadable e-book at a discounted price (they are aimed at somewhat different audiences). This would seem to require multiple actions from a single item. Can this be done?

Thanks.

We have a similar issue regarding the thank you page and notification emails: we sell both CDs and instant mp3 downloads.

How can we have thank you pages and emails that accomodate 3 different ordering scenarios:

1) CD purchase(s) only

2) MP3 purchase(s) only

3) Combination of CD and MP3 purchases in a single order

Thank you.

You may have to set them up as different products in E-Junkie.

I'm confused by your response. Each CD and MP3 SKU offered is already listed in my e-junkie account as separate products.

In essence, I'd like to have 3 different thank you pages for these 3 different scenarios, rather than have a "one size fits all" thank you page:

For Customer #1 who buys all CDs, I want a thank you page and email that in essence says "thanks for ordering CDs; they will be shipped shortly." (Tangible products message only)

For Customer #2 who orders all MP3s, I want a thank you page and email that says "thanks for ordering our MP3s, here's the link for downloading." (Download products message only)

For Customer #3 who buys both an MP3 and buy a CD in the same order, I want a thank you page and email that says "thanks for ordering your CD which will be shipped shortly. And here's the link for your download." (Tangible plus download combined products message).

How can I have these 3 different thank you pages and emails?

We used to do something similar where we had three different delivery methods for the same product. What we had to do was to make a different products for each delivery method. For example you'll have to make each variant a different product and use an add to cart button for each variant:

Song X MP3 (Add to Cart)

Song X CD (Add to Cart)

Song X MP3 & CD (Add to Cart)

It sucks because you'll have three add to cart buttons for each song but thats the only way around it I can see. You can adjust the email to your liking in the product details section for each and the customer will get a different email for each product.

Right now it looks like all you'll have to do is add a third product that combines the MP3 and CD and that should solve your problem. I don't know what your site looks like so that would be my best guess.

Hope it helps.

It helps to some degree, but you're making the assumption that the customer is buying the MP3 and CD of the same title.

The thank you page and email notification solutions I'm looking for needs to address the instance where a Customer buys CD Album A and MP3 Album B in the same order, where "A" and "B" are completely different titles.

Do you have them set up as separate products or variants?

We're testing that, although it's difficult because e-junkie won't let us test Authorize.net in test mode. I do know that the MP3 doenloads will each generate its own email.

Our major concern is the thank you page and the flexibility it has. If one orders an MP3, we prefer not to mention a CD reference on the thank you page if a CD wasn't purchased, and vice versa.
