Hi all - I have been editing my websites to make them more mobile friendly. My sites look much better on mobile dvices. However, when I click the E-Junkie "buy now" or add to car buttons the FatFree Cart text such is very small. On my Android phone, I could hardly see the Paypal and Google Wallet buttons.

Is there a way around this? Can I make the checkout font and such larger or is this something that only E-Junkie can do?

Thanks.

On mobile devices, our cart buttons should work in "fallback mode" by opening a separate browser tab to display the cart, rather than displaying the overlay-style cart "inside" your page. This makes best use of the available screen resolution, but that version of our cart cannot use the cart customization method that our overlay-style cart supports, so I can only ask Development to investigate the practicality of adjusting the font size for mobile-device browsers from our end. Meanwhile, buyers using mobile devices should at least be able to use the rotate, zoom and pan functions of their touchscreen to get a better view of their cart (e.g., rotating to landscape view would produce more legible results than portrait view).

Thanks. The fallback mode did work. And I was able to zoom and pan. There is always a small portion of people who cannot or will not take the extra effort when first buying from someone. I hope you guys can have a small screen version of the cart.

Thanks, as always, for a quick response time and a great product!

cheers - Ryan

Hi,

This is something I'm very keen on getting sorted. The easier and more pleasant the purchasing process is for users the better. And of course more and more people are buying things online via their phones and tablets too.

While we're waiting for an official solution from e-junkie, is there any kind of workable hack (excuse the term) to rearrange the cart layout for mobile users?

Thanks

Unfortunately, the fallback version of the cart that appears in a separate window/tab, which is also used for mobile devices, cannot be customized.

One thing we can suggest, if you have uploaded a custom logo/header image in Seller Admin > Edit Profile, try deleting that image or upload a narrower one, as the cart has to be rendered wide enough to include whatever image you upload. The cart can scale down to about 390px wide without scrolling/panning, if your custom header image is narrower than that (or if you don't have one uploaded at all).

Hi there --

I'm having the challenge as well. I checked the cart on my smartphone, and there is no header that I can make narrower. But the writing is sooooooo small, I can barely read it -- and I know what it says! :)

More and more people are using their mobile phones to visit websites, and a lot of them will not take the time to turn their phone sideways if they even think about doing it at all. I think we could lose a lot of sales because of the teeeeeeny tiny size of the cart.

Please, is there anything we can do to make the cart larger? Pretty please?

p.s. Would you please also tell me what you mean by this and how to set it up? Thank you!

"On mobile devices, our cart buttons should work in "fallback mode" by opening a separate browser tab to display the cart, rather than displaying the overlay-style cart "inside" your page. "

You don't have a custom header uploaded, so you needn't concern yourself with that. The "fallback mode" cart display should happen automatically on mobile devices, so there's nothing special you need to do to set that up.

I have sent a request to Development to add a certain tag to the fallback cart that should help improve the initial display, rendering the cart zoomed-in at normal width, rather than zoomed-out on a wider cart as some mobile browsers currently do. Currently, buyers should already be able to double-tap their screen to zoom in, or use the "pinch" touchscreen gesture to zoom in/out, swipe to scroll around, etc.

Thank you! Any idea how long this will take? 1 day? 1 week? 1 month? 1...gulp...year!? :)

Just wondering how often I need to check to see when it gets implemented.

Like Ryan, I have worked for months to switch my site over to a mobile-friendly website, and it's a total drag that the cart is not mobile-friendly unless turned sideways or double tapped.

Thanks again.

Patty

Development has now added the tag I mentioned above, so initial rendering of the cart on mobile devices should now be notably improved. That's about as good as it can get short of deeper modifications to the cart's fundamental structure, which we do plan to tackle once our new Admin panel is finally live.

IT LOOKS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR TAKING CARE OF THIS SO QUICKLY!! :)

Sorry for shouting but I'm pretty excited over here. :)

Much appreciated!

What is the status of developing a "Mobile Friendly" version of the cart?

8 days later

I apologize for the delay in replying to your request for an update on the status of this matter. I'd just reminded Development a couple weeks ago about the responsive cart improvements I'd proposed and was waiting on a followup from them, or some face time to discuss it with them, neither of which have occurred yet, so I've remind them about it via email again today.
