You could do that, or just create a secret discount code that takes 100% off the order total, and use that to test your product using our cart's Free Checkout method.
The only compatibility setting that matters is if you use a password to lock the file; in that case, the security compatibility should be set to "Acrobat 5.x or higher". However, we don't recommend adding any password to Stamped PDFs anyway, since we always apply a random Master password to every Stamped PDF anyway, which prevents any modification or extraction of the content, and any "read only" User password you'd add would need to be provided to buyers anyway (which is like locking something with a padlock and then leaving the key in the lock).
