When you check out, at the bottom there is a "Sign-up for product updates and newsletter." checkbox.

If I have a product that isn't going to include product updates or newsletter, is it possible to turn that checkbox off?

That checkbox controls a feature on our end that adds buyer names and emails to a Buyer Group list for each product they purchased, so you could use our Updates and Newsletter feature to send fresh download links or newsletters to all previous buyers of a given product.

That checkbox allows the buyer to opt in/out of being added to these Buyer Group lists; in order to remove the checkbox entirely, we'd need to add some setting in your Admin that allows you to disable the Buyer Group list-building entirely; I can only ask Development to add that feature to the wishlist for possible implementation at some point in the future.

Okay, thanks, I figured that that would be the case.

The problem I'm having is that this page only comes up when I run a test with a $0 product price. When I have a real price, it simply goes straight from PayPal to the download page. Any ideas why that is? Thanks.

I would like to add my request that there be an option to disable the sign up for newsletters button on the purchase page.

It's very confusing to my customers -- I also have a newsletter sign up on my website, and customers will think they've already sign up for it by checking the e junkie box. These leads will then be lost to me -- a very dangerous and damaging consequence!

Please, please find a way to disable this box as soon as possible!

Thanks,

Faith

I am just researching this issue and would like to setup a third-party email list for newsletters. I didn't want to run into the problem that FMJCommunications has, but it seems we don't yet have a choice. Sorry to revive an old thread, but this functionality would be very useful to our customers.

I am okay with the newsletter opt-in/opt-out option although I can see how it would be confusing if you already have a newsletter.

I am concerned about making updates an opt-in/opt-out option. We sell our information products as including free updates. I can imagine people wanting to opt out of the newsletter who expect to receive the update. If you have given them the option the opt out of the updates, you have killed the value of the update function for me and I will continue to do them by hand or look at membership site options.

I have not used the update function in the past because I could not add offline orders. I am excited to see that this function is being added.

I would like to re-iterate what Faith has said - it is confusing to our customers to have that check box there at the bottom of the payment page - please please can we have our admin settings put to taking that box away as an option before hitting submit on the payment page ?

Thank you

Lizzie

Our Development staff would be glad to add your requests to the Wishlist, for consideration among other candidates as possible future enhancements to our existing system; feel free to describe your needs, and we'll pass those along to Development.

However, bear in mind that because ours is a centrally-managed system that is shared in common among the thousands of merchants subscribed to use our system, it is not possible to make a custom modification at just one merchant's request which would not also apply the very same modification to every other merchant as well, so we have to consider such requests within the context of our existing, overall development strategy.

We place the utmost importance on maintaining bug-free stability and fool-proof simplicity for all merchants using our system. Development prioritizes new feature requests according to broadest potential benefit and the simplicity of programming them into our existing codebase and algorithms. Greater priority is given to popularly-requested features which many or most merchants could benefit from, and which can be written into our existing system fairly straightforwardly with minimal risk, whilst lower priority is given to features rarely requested and of benefit to fewer merchants, or which require substantial reprogramming or complexity that may introduce new bugs or instability problems in well-polished and stable parts of our existing system.

After having tested e-junkie for use in selling an eBook/report, I also have the same request. I do not have a newsletter or need to provide updates, so, this is a misleading checkbox for merchants which do not have need of this. Isn't is possible to make this an option for a seller to have enabled? Customers may check this, or, get frustrated if they do, and since I do not offer either one of these options...

Hope this is something you can do.

In the new Seller Admin we've been working on, I think we may be adding an option to disable adding buyers to any buyer group list, which would also hide the opt-in checkbox during checkouts.

Was the disable option added? If so where can I find it?? It is a confusing checkbox for our customers as well and we would love to be able to remove it!!

Thanks much.

We're still working on the new Admin, but I expect this new setting may be included in that once it's ready for primetime.

I would like to add my vote to disable or change the Sign-up for product updates and newsletter.

We are a nonprofit and our email newsletter and list is vital to our business, and we are constantly looking for ways to increase our email list. Having this checkbox for us would be a great benefit, if we were able to see who opted-in to see OUR newsletter. We NEVER send emails to people who do not a our own opt-in checkbox. We would consider checking e-junkie's newsletter opt-in box the same. We've added a link on our thank-you page to subscribe to our newsletter, which is probably very confusing to our customers who just clicked e-junkie's newsletter opt-in.

Thank-you. I am very new to e-junkie, but I can already tell it is going to be great for our business.

Thanks for your vote; this is a fairly popularly-requested new feature, so I expect we will eventually implement it as soon as practical. If you want to see who has subscribed via our own opt-in checkbox and, if you wish, download that list, you can log into your E-junkie Seller Admin and then visit this link directly:

I'd like to add my vote for the checkbox to enable/disable this newsletter opt-in.

I've looked at many options to sell digital goods and I keep coming back to E-junkie ... however, it is exactly that checkbox (leave it up to the seller to decide whether or not there should be a newsletter checkbox) has kept me from signing up for the service so far. I hope to see the option added soon!

Thank you!

Bear in mind the Sign Up checkbox only appears on checkout pages we manage for you, namely our Free Checkout (for 0.00 order totals) and card-based direct payment checkouts using Authorize.Net or PayPal Payments Pro.

Checkouts paid through PayPal, Google Checkout, ClickBank, 2CheckOut, or TrialPay would occur on those payment processors' respective checkout sites, so we have no control over them, but PayPal checkouts in particular do not have any opt-in/-out checkbox, so all buyers who pay by PayPal would be opted-in automatically.
