I have autoredirection set for each product and it works great when payment is made with Authorize.net. However, if paid by PayPal customer is not automatically redirected to a thank you page. Instead, a PayPal page is shown with several links, including "Complete Purchase". Unless the customer specifically clicks on this page they may never see our thank you page.

I have seen it done elsewhere where PayPal automatically redirects the user to a thank you page. How can I implement this with e-Junkie?

Hi Toby,

I don't work for e-junkie but I think this is the way it's supposed to work. At least this is how it works for me. My customers click on the Complete Purchase link just fine. Maybe there is a way to redirect this but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

e-junkie Guru? Any ideas?

As far as we know, there's no way we can force PayPal to auto-redirect buyers to any thank-you page after completing checkout on PayPal's site. We do normally issue the buyer a thank-you email with a link to reach their thank-you/download page in case they did not proceed to the download page after checkout.

If you use PayPal Pro, then buyers who go through a card-based Direct Payment checkout would be auto-redirected (since we manage the checkout page in that case), but buyers who go through Express Checkout to pay with their PayPal account would still need to click through the Continue Purchase link manually.

Is there a particular reason you needed the auto-redirect? We may be able to suggest alternative approaches.

I've asked Development about this, and it turns out that you can enable Auto-Return and Payment Data Transfer (you must enable both) in your PayPal account, which will allow PayPal to auto-redirect buyers to your E-junkie thank-you page after they complete checkout.

However, if PayPal has not actually completed processing the buyer's payment by the time the buyer finishes checkout, then they would only be redirected to a generic thank-you page asking them to watch their email for further details. You can work around this by disabling "Wait for pending payments..." in your E-junkie Seller Admin > Payment Preferences, but then you would assume all risk of a payment possibly failing after the buyer has already claimed any digital items they'd purchased; you can mitigate most of this risk by refusing to accept eCheck-funded payments in your PayPal account settings.

Presuming you were asking about this for the sake of conversion tracking, you may be interested in the information on our Tracking help page (which I'll have to update in light of what I learned about Auto-Return today):

I disabled (made sure check mark is removed) from "Wait for pending payments..." in your E-junkie Seller Admin > Payment Preferences. However, PayPal is still waiting for payment confirmation and after waiting the aprx. minute for re-direction to Thank you/Download page, it finally says "The payment processor has not yet informed us about your payment. Your order will be processed as soon as they inform us about the payment.", and does not re-direct to download page.

We have donation based offers, and it’s important to us that people get re-directed to thank you page right after payment, as well as getting emails which can be quite delayed.

Is there some other step besides making sure that box is unchecked fo "Wait for pending payments...". It had re-directed properly before, and I had not changed that setting, so not sure what went wrong.
