How do we create download page for mobile?

My product is a downloadable ebook for iphone (epub) and kindle (.mobi).

Since i am not using the app store (iBook, Amazon Kindle store), the user needs help in installing this file.

How do i create a custom download page that the user can navigate to on their device? How do I add further instructions for them to know how to install the file on their device?

I am a developer so I can handle custom integration. Is there a way to get the download link as a template variable i can add to my custom download/instruction page?

The user experience should be as follows:

• user purchases file from their normal web browser
• download link file is sent to their inbox
• user clicks the download link and sent to a page giving instructions on how to install to their iphone or kindle
