Up until a couple of days ago, I had Google Analytics successfully tracking e-junkie shopping cart activity and Paypal and Google Checkout sales on ThemeTrust.com. But then, for some reason, it quit tracking this. All other stats are fine. I didn't make any changes on my end, so I'm just wondering if you changed something.

I'm using this code in the footer of my site:

<script type="text/javascript">

var gaJsHost=(("https:"==document.location.protocol)?"https://ssl.":"http://www.");

document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='"+gaJsHost+

"google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));

</script>

<script type="text/javascript">

var ejGATracker = gat.getTracker("UA-17926545-1");

ejGATracker._setDomainName("none");

ejGATracker._setAllowLinker(true);

ejGATracker._trackPageview();

</script>

Hm, we've received at least one other email that I've seen about that, so there may well be something amiss with our cart script that has broken the GA tracking for cart-button clicks. Development is already looking into it, that's about all we have to say at present, with our apologies for the inconvenience.

I've got the same problem. It's been happening since at least Dec. 2--none of my sales on that day or since have appeared in Google Analytics. If I can provide any info to help you diagnose the problem, please let me know.

I can also confirm mine stopped working December 1st as well. Thanks

I like to confirm that mine stopped working on 1st Dec as well and since then no sales have been registered. Thanks for looking into it.

Thanks, everyone. Could each of you please provide some more detailed information to help us research this issue:

- Exactly what stopped tracking that was working fine before Dec. 1st -- e.g., just cart-button clicks? Or just sale conversions? Or any traffic on your site at all?

- Which version of the GA tracking code were you using: just the standard tracking code provided by Google Analytics, or the special version of GA code we provide on our Tracking help page to add tracking for cart-button clicks?

- Finally, please provide the URL of a page on your site we can examine, where the tracking was working before it stopped working on Dec. 1st

  1. Traffic is still being tracked on the site as a whole and on the page that has "add to cart" and "view cart" links.
  2. Traffic for the cart itself stopped being tracked on Dec. 1--stats stopped for /www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?c=cart&...
  3. Conversions stopped being tracked on Dec. 1.

    In-page analytics shows the percentage of clicks on all other buttons on the page but nothing for the cart buttons. I haven't used in-page analytics before on that page so this may have been true all this time.

  4. I'm using the e-Junkie code.

  5. URL where cart tracking is no longer working:

    http://www.elearningblueprint.com/signup.html

    Thanks for looking into this.

Same here. I am using e-Junkies supplied code.

The e-commerce data tracking (conversions) in google analytics stopped, on 1 Dec.

All traffic is still collected in analytics and all seem to be working.

before, conversion always worked from anywhere on the site, now they are not captured. Nothing was changed at that moment on the site, so it must be on your side.

Thanks

Same here. My e-junkie supplied GA code has worked correctly for years. As of Dec 1, Google Analytics stopped showing completed Goals or Ecommerce transactions. All other Google Analytics data continues to collect (keywords, referral sites, etc).

I have two sites using the exact same code. It stopped working for both:

http://www.funawards.com

http://www.funnyemployeeawards.com

I'm sure this is affecting a lot more people than are posting here. Thanks for making this a high priority.

Just want to let you all know we're still investigating the cause of this issue, but it seems like Google Analytics may have changed something about their tracking system effective Dec. 1 which no longer works with the version of GA tracking code we've been providing to add the ability to track cart-button clicks.

You can try removing our version of the GA code from your site and replace it with the standard tracking code issued by GA, which in this case you'd also add to your Seller Admin > Account Preferences > Common Thank-you Page HTML field as well (or if you are redirecting to a Common Thank-you Page URL, place the GA code in your site's thank-you page). This would not support tracking of cart-button clicks, but page traffic and Goals tracking should resume working as before.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the conversion tracking should be working again, using the code as we provide, as of late last week. Turns out the problem was with a tool we use to compress the javascript code to make the cart load faster; we'll keep a closer eye on that from now on.

2 months later

I have GA successfully integrated with my site, but it is failing to pick up 100% of my purchases (I get emails to fulfill the orders, so I know they are happening!)

The latest missed transaction was on March 16.

Any help, please?

thanks,

So, it is just not going to be 100% accurate, and that is that?

How accurate should I expect it to be?

Honestly, we can't really say; analytics-type tracking happens directly between GA and the buyer's browser; it doesn't go through our system at all, so we have no way of monitoring that. This help page explains more about how analytics-style tracking actually works and what it's actually good for, even though it can never be 100% accurate:
