Gift recipient's info

Hello.



I am trying to figure out a couple of ideas for gift options on my products.



I think I can provide instructions on the TY pages that can be very specific for giving gifts.



First, for my eBook , if given as a gift, I need to know the actual person using the product, (not the buyer) because I have an autoresponder generated at the time of the download. If the buyer sends along the download link to the gift recipient , is there a way to capture that person's (gift recipient) email address? Or is only the buyer's email going to be captured.



If not, can I create a field for the buyer to include the recipient's email? Then at the time of download I'd know to start the autoresponder in the gift recipient's name.



Second, for an actual gift coupon that I generate the codes for... If I make an HTML template for the item specific message including html graphics that include the generated code? Then the buyer could just forward the branded coupon directly to the recipient. Would the spam filters likely catch it and send to junk mail? Is this how the template would work?

Hm, you could enable Variations for the product, allowing the buyer to enter a gift recipient's name and email before they Add to Cart:

Then you could use our custom/3rd-party Integration method to send that data to the URL of a custom script at your end, which could in turn send an email directly to the gift recipient:

Our thank-you email templates are plaintext-only, so we wouldn't have any way of sending a coupon graphic formatted with the coupon code inside it as an email. However, you could template the email to say something like:



Click here to obtain your gift coupon:

[%download_link%]



(Please forward this email to your gift recipient.)



In this case, the [%download_link%] variable inserts a link to the thank-you page for just that specific item (rather than a consolidated thank-you page for all items in the buyer's order). Then the buyer would click that link and reach a thank-you page that you'd templated with HTML (in the product's Message (HTML) field) to include the [%codes%] variable in the proper place within a coupon graphic.

So, I have one more question please.. I want to bundle one of my products with one of my affiliate's products for us to both cross promote and sell. We both have a single item in affiliate programs.



Is there a way to do this as a package? It's like picking from different store carts to bundle as one item. I'd get my product full dollar and the affiliate commission on hers. When she sold the bundle, she'd get her full product value and the affiliate commission om my item.



We could even give commission on the bundle, but it's getting the downloads sorted out I suppose.



Maybe its as simple as selling from the buy now affiliate button rather than the hop-link?

There's no way to bundle products from two different accounts into a single product. In fact, you can't even add two separate products from different accounts into the same cart to purchase together.



Even our usual "bundling" approach using the "Package files..." setting doesn't actually combine products; it just lets you set up a new product that can affect the settings of some other existing product(s) -- namely, issuing the other product's file as a download or affecting the other product's inventory.



Maybe you could just set up the affiliate's product in your own Seller Admin to sell on their behalf, and then use your E-junkie Transaction Log to determine sales for that product and calculate a percentage to pay back to the affiliate?

Thanks. It makes sense that one can't use two different accounts into the same cart.



We'll either keep on the current affiliate way, or do as you suggest and work through the honor system of selling on their behalf.
