Hi, someone got in touch with me and wants to buy my ebook to give as a gift. I've sifted through the posts I've found on the forum on this topic, and have created a special coupon / gift certificate plus enabled the "send stored codes" option. I then tested it by sending it to myself. It all seems to work fine, i.e. I can buy the book using the special code which gives me a discount BUT I don't see a code that I think I'm supposed to get that I can either forward to the friend, or write into a card, for example.

Can someone please tell me what I'm supposed to get in my inbox with relation to the gift that I can then forward? - I'm really confused.

I'd really appreciate it ASAP as the customer is waiting!

Thanks so much.

Hello again - I've managed to add a gift coupon for purchase, but when I try to link to it and go directly to checkout, it says it is "out of stock". I have no idea why this is. I'm tearing my hair out - this is all so confusing!!

Can someone help??

This help page explains how to set up Gift Coupon codes to sell:

Note that for each purchase of a Gift Coupon, one code would be removed from the Gift Coupon product's list of codes and issued to that buyer, until you run out of codes in the list; at that point, the Gift Coupon product would become "out of stock".

However, there's an easier way to make a gift purchase for a specific download product; the gift buyer can simply purchase the product normally, then when they receive their thank-you email with a link to their download page, they can simply forward that email or link to their intended gift recipient.

Thank you!

Yes, I was probably complicating things too much. I thought maybe the buyer got some kind of "gift-like" coupon thingy to pass on, but if not, obviously your second solution is much better. Especially since I would like to offer her a discount.
