In my first test of e-junkie against my website I have found two problems (so far) that I can't find an answer to in the forum. I"m storing the files on a remote server and redirecting the URL. I've put the files in obscure folders and password protected the folder. I'm redirecting in e-junkie using the "http://username:password@www.mysite.com/obscurefolder/filename.zip" method.

The first I think I solved but I'll ask anyway. My file types are MP4 and I am selling just single MP4 files so I didn't compress them into single zip files. Upon downloading, the file tries to play in the browser instead of just downloading and there is no way to save it unless you have a pro version of Quicktime or maybe find it in the cache if you are savvy or patient enough. I fixed this by creating zip files. However if I'm only buying one file, after filling out my name and email, immediately begins to download instead of displaying the html page with the links like it did with multiple files. Is this by design?

The second problem is more disconcerting. On my first attempt at trying to download MP4 files instead of zip files, I noticed in the address bar of the browser was the address of my website where the files were stored right down to the obscure subfolder and filename. I thought e-junkie was supposed to cache the file and cloak this from buyers. When I tested it again with the zip file, the address didn't show in the browser, but the browser immediately pops up a window saying "Login to site 'www.mysite.com' with the username 'myusername'?" It just gave away my remote site and username! I could also (in Firefox) right-click on the download and copy the download link. There it would actually show the username and password, too, of the protected folder on my site! I followed all of the options for securing remotely hosted files in "http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/tips.downloads.security.htm".

Am I doing something wrong? Why is e-junkie not cloaking the URL of my site?

Our Redirection feature is not intended for downloads, and we recommend against attempting to use it for that purpose, for the reasons you experienced and explained further here:

Using Single File Download rather than Redirection should resolve all the issues you described. This will allow you to either upload the file for each product or, if you prefer to store the files on your own server, you can specify a Remote Product File URL for each product if you have a subscription plan starting at $18/mo and up. Please see this help page for further details:

Ok, I thought I was doing as you describe, but now I understand the difference between redirection and remote file URL. And, yes, Single File Download does resolve all of my issues. Great! Just a little confusion on my part, but now everything is good. Thanks.
