Is there any way to edit existing shipping rules or download the settings?



I'm still experimenting trying to setup the rules to achieve our desired state and deleting and recreating rules is time consuming and not easy to see all the rules in one hit.



Searching the forum it appears the system is very flexible and fore most requests there is always an answer or work around. Before asking I thought I would experiment and hence the question.

In the Existing Shipping Rules menu, you can see the conditions a cart order must satisfy to qualify for each Rule; when you select a Rule in that menu, the calculation method for that Rule is displayed just underneath the menu itself.



At present, Shipping Rules cannot be edited; they can only be deleted and replaced (the new Seller Admin we're working on should improve this shortcoming). If you could describe how you want your shipping calculations to work, we can suggest an approach and provide instructions to set that up.

Now that the new Sell Admin panel is here, is it now possible to edit existing shipping rules?

We are planning to add that functionality eventually, but it won't be available right away. This is because we developed the new Admin as a drop-in replacement for our old Flash-based Admin, minimizing any changes required in the back-end routines they use to save new settings and load existing ones to view/edit.



At present, the back-end has no way of passing detailed, discrete settings for existing shipping rules back to the front-end Admin where they could be viewed/edited; it only passes the pre-fab summaries exactly as shown in the Existing Shipping Rules menu. Once the new Admin is fully live for everyone, we can start considering new features and functionality that would require more extensive modification to the Admin back-end for managing their settings, such as the ability to edit existing shipping rules.

Is editing/cloning of shipping rules still on the todo list? In my case I just want to change the flat rate on one of my rules. Getting it wrong could be costly so I've been reluctant to delete and add a new rule as I set it up so long ago and it works.

Replying to my own message, I bit the bullet and deleted/added rules and it wasn't that bad at all. It would still be nice to be able to edit rules but not the end of the world to not be able to.

Yes, we're still planning to make shipping rules editable at some point. Presently, Seller Admin doesn't have any way to obtain detailed settings of existing shipping rules from our backend, so programming that in a way that doesn't run afoul of other stuff is the main hurdle.
