Hi everybody,

I found out about e-junkie while listening to the Internet Business Mastery Podcast with Jay and Sterling. I've considering starting a website and selling a high priced ebook. I've read a lot of what's been writen in e-junkie's FAQ sesction and I realize the pros and cons of selling ebooks that give the readers limited control over the product.

However, I am still considering the option of perhaps using e-junkie in connection with a file-locking service to protect my ebook. It's actually 600 pages, and it's taken me almost 2 years to write it. I have very real concerns about it being widely distributed by through theft and piracy.

I am thinking of using e-junkie's cart, Paypal, and other services in conjunction with the services of this file-locking service:

http://www.drm-x.com/BusinessAccount.aspx

My plan is to set up my ebook whereas it can only be accessed from the registered PC, etc. And also, so that it can't be printed or copied or screenshot.

My questions are:

1. Can e-junkie work in conjunction with the services of this company to fulfill my ebook orders?

2. If not, is there a way to set up an alternative website address where people can access it without being able to copy or save it----------and e-junkie can handle recurring subscriptions for it?

Any help you can give, or any "right" directions you can point me in would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It's not clear what role E-junkie would play in your scenario using DRM-X? From what I can tell, your buyers would need to have an account with Haihaisoft to pay for a license to open your protected PDF, which all happens within their dedicated PDF reader program, so we would not be involved at all in that.

I suppose you could use our Free Checkout to let each buyer order their file and have us issue them a download link to acquire their copy of your protected file, but this probably isn't even necessary and only adds unnecessary complication to the purchase process. Typically when a file is locked, the file itself is made freely available for anyone to download, since it's useless without paying for a license key to unlock it. You could just upload your locked file to your own Web site, and then post a link to download that file from a page on your Web site or in emails you may send to subscribers. Even Microsoft lets anyone download a copy of Windows to install, since it won't work without a license key from Microsoft.

We also don't have any way to handle recurring payments. If your product will be offered on a subscription basis, you might consider just using PayPal Recurring Payments as-is, either by itself or linked via PayPal IPN to a mailing list service such as Aweber and/or a membership management platform such as FrontDeskApp.

E-Junkie Guru,

Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my questions. What you've shared with me has given me much food for thought. I see I have much to consider if I go the secure file route with my Ebook.

I appreciate your input.

And thanks again.
