Does EJ support eBay listings which use variations? I'm trying to hook up an eBay variation listing and it is not working well (i.e. not appearing in EJ at all).

By looking into the IPN data on PayPal, the 'item title' format is as follows: <actual item title>[<variation>]

As an example if my eBay listing title is 'baby bibs' and I have size as a variation, the IPN title comes through as Baby Bibs[0-months] or something like that.

Many thanks

It seems eBay's "variations" are not the same as our own "Variations which tell more about the product". Our eBay integration just receives IPN from PayPal and matches up the PayPal Email address receiving the payment with the Item Name as reported by PayPal, which latter is normally the eBay Auction Title alone. We haven't tested this, but you can see if it might work if you set up every possible variation as a separate product in Seller Admin with the variation value included as part of that name -- e.g. specify "Baby Bibs[0-months]" as the actual Item Name in Seller Admin.

Hi thanks for responding, I have tested putting the title as reported by PayPal IPN (which includes the variation data) as my product title but it does not appear to work. The weird thing is that the PayPal IPN title is actually <item title>[<variation> loads of spaces or carriage returns] so I think that is why it is not working.

Here is my actual IPN data (PS, my variation is simply a number, not 0-3 months as stated before). The …. Indicate data that I have removed for security reasons and the spaces are shown in the IPN data. The number 1 is the only actual variation data.

Is there no way that EJ could use the item number from eBay instead? This seems like a much more natural choice for matching up the item to the EJ product than the title (which may change during the course of a listing if the original title is not working well).

Many thanks

I think the Item Number is unique for each eBay auction listing, so that would not work for most routine eBay sellers who simply keep relisting the same product with the same Auction Title which should thus keep working with the same product setup in E-junkie.

Are you actually issuing a download link or digital code (key/PIN/license/registration code) for your eBay sales? That's pretty much the only intended purpose for using our eBay integration. If you don't need to use our digital delivery feature to provide a digital component of the purchase, you may not need to use our eBay integration at all.
