I think this might be a dumb question, but I just want to be clear.



According to the instructions on this page: 1http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/help.tracking.htm1



It says "Then, just place the following tracking code in your site at the bottom of every page (just before your </body> tag should be fine) wherever you are using E-junkie cart buttons, and also in any other pages in your site where you wish to use Analytics tracking as well."



So before I go doing something I may regret... :wink:



Do we ONLY put the tracking code on those pages where we are using the e-Junkie cart? Or do we put this code on every single page of our site, replacing our current "vanilla" GA tracking code?

You should use our version of the GA tracking code on every page where you wish to use GA tracking at all, regardless of whether you are using E-junkie buttons on that page -- i.e., do not mix-match our version of the code with code you obtained from Google, neither on the same page nor across different pages.

Hi -- me again. :)



Just wanted to be clear on one more point. Google Analytics recommends we put their code just before the closing head.



But you guys say to use the e-Junkie/GA code we get from you just before the closing body tag.



Is it okay to put the code we get from you guys in the head intead?



I mean, I know you guys wouldn't say something if it wasn't okay with Google, but I don't understand the discrepency. Why don't you guys just tell us to put it in the head? Is there a particular reason?

You could put our version of the GA code in your page HEAD, but that could adversely affect your page load performance, so we recommend putting it at the end of the BODY, where it won't hold up loading the rest of your page until after the script has loaded. Google's newest GA code is asynchronous, meaning it doesn't hold up page loading while the script loads, so it can be placed in the HEAD without affecting page load performance. We intend to update our GA code to take advantage of Google's new async method eventually, but right now we've got our hands pretty full with completing the new Admin project and upgrading our 2CO support in response to the imminent retirement of Google Checkout.

Got it. Thank you so much for the quick response. So for now, it's best to put the eJunkie/GA code at the end of the Body until further notice. :)
