I use PayPal advanced payments for regular PayPal transactions and as a merchant account provider to accept credit cards too.

I've been using PayPal and E-junkie for over two years without any issues until last week. Now I'm only receiving notifications from E-junkie if the transaction was processed successfully and the item will be automatically sent to the customer.

If the transaction is pending verification due to AVS failure or any other credit card verification issue, the transaction is an E-check or a transaction (previously pending) is manually approved I will not receive any notification at all and customers will be upset that their fees are pending but the product is not sent to them, I need to login into PayPal manager several times a day to check for pending review transactions and contact customers as I'm not receiving the notifications anymore.

I used to receive an e-mail from E-junkie that the transaction was pending "E-junkie Notification - Pending Payment - authorization" but I do not receive that anymore.

I've contacted PayPal and this was their response:

Hi Michael,

Thank for you contacting PayPal Merchant Technical Support. I'm sorry for the delay in response.

That's because eJunkie uses IPN and your IPN was disabled. Try to enable it back and try to resent your IPN. Follow this link on how to enable it. You can fill in any URL as your integration will overwrite the URL. 8https://developer.paypal.com/webapps/developer/docs/classic/ipn/integration-guide/IPNSetup/8

Read more about IPN in the link below.

Now if I read your forum discussions E-junkie is telling that I do not have to enable any IPN if I use the standard cart links

If you are using E-junkie-provided purchase-button codes you do NOT need to manually configure PayPal IPN at all. When a buyer takes an order from our buttons/cart to PayPal for checkout, we automatically include our IPN URL along with the order data.

If you are using E-junkie's built-in Affiliate program, any Affiliate who referred the sale via their link would get credited for the sale automatically. See here for more information on how our Affiliate programs work and the different link types:

Can you please help me with this? I need to get the notifications back again to proactively help my customers. If I need tenable IPN on PayPal, what I need to enter in the url??

Thank you.

Carlos

Normally, you should not need to configure IPN manually in your PayPal account, as our cart/buttons send our IPN requirements to PayPal automatically for each order, which would override any manual IPN settings (or lack thereof) in your PayPal account for that order.

However, if your PayPal account settings have an obsolete IPN Notification URL (unrelated to E-junkie) that was rejecting notifications for non-E-junkie payments, they may completely disable the IPN feature for your PayPal account, which we unfortunately cannot override.

You can manually re-enable IPN in PayPal by going to My Account > Profile > More Options > My Selling Tools > Instant Payment Notifications > Choose IPN Settings, where you should choose to Receive IPN Messages (Enabled) and enter this Notification URL:

Since you mention using PayPal Payments Advanced, we'd also recommend double-checking every step of our integration procedure for Advanced, to make sure you've got nothing amiss with that setup:

Thank you but I do receive notifications from Paypal and E-junkie when a successful transaction is made, it is only on the pending, e-check and manually approve transactions that tI do not get the notifications at all like I used to do.

Hi Carlos,

We've never recorded orders that were in a pending status, so no notification should be coming from us for those transactions at all.

PayPal should be notifying you of anything that's being held up for verification, but otherwise you should only get notices from us for orders which are completed or orders which were sent to us as completed but not processed because of a problem such as an incorrect total.

E-JunkieMonster I"m sorry to tell you that I always received pending status notifications from E-junkie when the PayPal transaction was blocked by Fraud Protection System and I love this feature as I could contact the customer and be proactive with the situation.

I never touched the PayPal IPN settings since I've signed on E-junkie but I went ahead and activated IPN and entered https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/ipn1ext.php as recommended by E-junkieGuru and now the pending notifications are coming again and it is great.

Sample of a just received blocked transaction by fraud filter, this is a portion of e-mail from E-junkie.

Pending Payment - authorization

Instant Payment Notification Data

and the whole customer information will be below.

Sorry for the confusion; in fact, we do send notice of pending payments for eCheck-funded payments if we receive IPN from PayPal notifying us of that. We depend on IPN to receive order notification from PayPal, so if they don't send us IPN for a given order (e.g., if PayPal disabled IPN for your account), we have no way of knowing that order was actually placed to begin with, let alone whether its payment status is Pending or Completed.

If you are having to manually approve Pending payments in PayPal, please see this help page for further instructions to help automate that:

http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/trouble.paypal-pending-payments.htm

If you receive a Suspected Fraud notification from us, that indicates we received IPN for an order where the amount paid does not match the current price in Seller Admin for the item(s) ordered, so in that case we do NOT process the order and instead send you the order data in a Suspected Fraud email, so you can decide how to handle the situation.
