Domestic - free shipping - international - flat rate --- impossible?

the shipping system is a case of over-engineering imo.



i would like to implement:

- free shipping for all domestic orders

- $6 flat-rate for all international orders



i've tried every combination i could think of with no luck. basically, i just want to add a "$6" to the small tube cost, but only for international.



ideas?

i figured this out after i posted (of course) but the solution is not very intuitive.



for anyone searching later on:



- on product page, set weight = 0, container = small tube, and capacity = 999

- on shipping settings, set domestic = 0, international = 1, small tube price = 0, & small tube ounces = 6





of course, there's no way to update all items with a capacity = 999 so it looks like it one by one time.

Glad you figured it out, and I actually agree that for Sellers not using our standard USPS rate lookups, devising and configuring alternate approaches to our Shipping calculation is probably the most frequently confounding aspect of our service. However, it's more a case of something that started out very simple and organically had features extended and added-on over time while trying to keep it all as flexible and multi-purposeful as possible. Now we've got so many people using it as-is that we can't just throw it away and start from a clean sheet, as it were, so we're working on improvements to make the system we've got better and easier to use.
