Hello,

I'm trying to set up a discount code for one of my products and it's being wiggy. I've noticed it lately with my products when I set up discount codes.

I have a workshop that I give out different discount codes to as a sponsor. I also give different discount codes for my own email list.

When I try to check the different codes in my shopping cart it's only showing my 25% off code automatically. When I try to put in another code it's adding to that 25% off making a much bigger discount that I want anyone to receive OR it says that the code is invalid.

Currently, I'm trying to give a $100 discount to a select group of people and it's automatically bringing up the 25% discount (without putting any code in at all) and then when I put in the $100 off code it's making the total purchase price be the 25% discount PLUS the $100 off discount.

Please help me know why some of my codes are automatically showing up (not everyone gets a discount but that's the way it's happening) and why codes are adding on to each other and why some are invalid.

I've been using ejunkie for years and this issue has only recently presented itself.

Thanks so much!

It appears we've already sorted this out with you via email, but in case anyone else reading this may have a similar problem, here was our response:

Please see the section on Combining Discounts at the bottom of our help page here for an explanation of when discounts can be added to each other:

http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/help.discounts.htm

If a discount has no Discount Code entered and it is set to apply to "all cart items", it will always apply automatically on every order, at least until its Max Use Count limit is reached. If you want to require that a code be entered for that discount to be claimed you will need to enter a code for it, but bear in mind that a buyer could still enter that code in addition to the code for a product discount and receive both.

If you are giving away $100 product discounts and you also have a 25% order discount those will both apply at the same time. There is no way to prevent this at all because those are two different types of discounts which are allowed to stack, and we cannot change that behavior since everyone else has created their discounts with these settings in mind.

I'd recommend removing the 25% discount, or perhaps lowering the amount of the product discounts so that they can work alongside the 25% discount without reducing the order total too much.
