I charge tax (on both products and shipping fees) to customers in the state of Texas. The problem is, if you place an item in the cart - and choose either paypal or google checkout - customers are charged tax on shipping - but not on the products themselves. How do I fix this?
Apr '11Apr '11Okay - well, I guess I figured this one out. For those in the same boat: Apparently, you have to "turn on" sales tax as you originally enter the product info. I assumed that simply saying "collect tax from those in TX" was enough (there on the tax/VAT settings page) - but you've got to (also) go into the settings for each individual product and tick the "sales/VAT tax" box.
