I see on some sites there is a Login/WishList for returning customers. Do you have anything like this? It's OK if you don't; just something I'd like to possibly consider in the future. I realize having to remember usernames/passwords is a hassle for many buyers, so this is not a huge priority. I resent online stores that make me sign in with this information if I'm a returning customer.

Thanks.

That would all be on you I would think.

PHP and MySQL is a pain but thats what you need.

That sort of thing could really only work with a "licensed" e-commerce solution that you'd install as software on your own server, where that software controls the entire shopping and purchase process on your site from start to finish, including your page layout, product listings and checkout payments.

Since our "hosted" service just adds our cart buttons and cart to your own site which you maintain however you wish, we don't even control the purchase process every step of the way, and buyers would already have an account with the payment processor (e.g. PayPal) that they'd log into for checkout, there's really no practical and useful way for us implement return-customer accounts with wishlists, etc.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is not a huge priority. I wonder how many shoppers resent having to sign in to place an order. The pain of remembering login information or having it emailed. Plus I'm not sure buyers feel comfortable with their information being stored like that.

Thoughts?
