I am using Adobe Pro X and would like to make my document read only, but that requires a author password - even if I click "do not require password to open".

When users download, will this security be maintained and still stamp the PDF?

Maybe there is some other way to make it read-only and stamp-able?

You can set up PDF Stamping to add a User (read-only) password to every Stamped copy of the file we issue to your buyers, so there is no need to set that up in your original file.

If you prefer to lock your original file with a User password anyway, you will also be required to apply a Master (author) password, and then you'd need to provide that Master password when you set up PDF Stamping, so we can unlock the file for Stamping.
