I plan to sell many products, at least more than 150. Is there some way to bulk-load their data?

Also, I'd like to see at least product name and product code, when I enter its data, images, etc. screen after screen... Please, consider this...

By the way, I like very much your idea to stop the distribution of ordered PDF files with inserting customer's name inside!

Thank you!

We can provide you with a spreadsheet file you can follow as a template to define your products, then send the completed file back to us to import your initial batch of products -- just send us an email we can reply to with our template file attached:

I'm not sure I follow what your second request is getting at...?

I sent yesterday 2 email messages to you at support @ e-junkie.com. Please, send me your template!

Also I described there my second question/recommendation. I meant the process of adding/editing products. You organize this in few consecutive pages. It would be useful, if you show on these pages the product name and product code, this will help me to know which product I edit in this moment... Believe me, when I have to edit at least 10 products, this is helpful...

When I have to add/edit many products, it will be useful if I can see them listed in a big table with their main data:

- product name

- product code (very good key to sort all products, much better than product name as a key)

- price, discount codes...

- filename and time of upload (I could forget to upload a product file by mistake?! Now the system allows to sell an "empty" downloadable product - without uploaded file)

- item expiration / download link validity

- categories

- uploaded images

etc.

This will help to check easy the correctness of each product.

Looking at your method to choose a product for editing (drop-down list), I can conclude that you didn't try it with more than 50-100 products (how about tests with 7999 products? ). I can understand why you prefer such method - to be able to keep all dialog in only one screen without vertical scrollers. But for me as your user this is much less important than the possibility to be able to edit my products in convenience...

Solaria

Hm, our email records don't show any messages received from you. Did you get an automated response from us assigning a Ticket ID to your inquiry? If not, then your message never got through to our end. I'll just send the product import template file to the email address we have onfile for your E-junkie account.

I've passed along to Development your suggestion that product-config screens past the first one should show the Item Name and Number of the product being edited, so that refinement may appear in a future update to the E-junkie service.

We don't really have any way to display or edit all product data at once in a table format, nor any way to manage mass updates on an ongoing basis. The import-template file I'm sending you can only be used to import your initial batch of products, but it isn't really suitable for ongoing maintenance/updates.

To be quite honest, while we are technically capable of supporting many thousands of products, our Seller Admin is primarily designed for the vast majority of our clients, who have anywhere from just few to at most perhaps a few dozen products to sell, and who often have little technical interest as well, so we aim to make things as simple, easy and nontechnical as possible for them, and this often entails interface design decisions which may be better suited to merchants with a smaller product range than those with a vast array of different products. Those few merchants who do have a large number of products with us typically have very simple products that only need to be configured once and rarely if ever edited, such as a record label selling music mp3 files for all their artists.

Indeed, most of the merchants who are even subscribed to our "x999 products" plan levels are doing so mostly for the storage space and using only a fraction of their available product slots. In that sense, the generous product allocations at those levels are something like a bonus we throw in with a storage space upgrade. It's also just a handy mnemonic that keeps our plan levels clear, where most high-capacity plans have the same number of products as MB allocated.

Hm, strange... I also didn't receive your email message with the template. In the same time I received three notifications from your site, that you replied each of my questions in the forum... I sent my two emails directly to your support email address and didn't receive any automated response. I'll contact you via your online contact form and will provide you my reserve email addresses for contact...

About the number of possible products... Your policy attracts or repulses potential merchants... Your current policy attracts merchants with not so many products... These with many products are not able to manage them easy... I'm from these with many products, but I'm here because you offer something special - PDF stamping, which is very important and useful for me.

I'm a client of other site for online sale of tangible products since 11 years. They have bulk load and their template covers all product's data. In the past they had simple template, now their template is more complicate. Now I'm able to edit my products' data in Excel and with a simple program to prepare them for upload to the site within few minutes... 100 products, or 200, or 500 - it doesn't matter... This is why I sell there all my products and pay them percents from each sale...

In your site not only I pay more money for more products (I would prefer to pay more money for more MBytes, because my files are relatively small), but I don't feel comfortable to add and edit them... Drop down list for dozens or hundreds products, listed in alphabetical order, instead on the product code?! I can't find the suitable words to say how strange and uncomfortably solution this is... For the merchants most important thing is not the product name, but the product code... The product code includes inside in a short form the category, the sequence, some product characteristics, this is more than a name... This is why the product codes exist...

Don't you think, that with your policy to take more money for more products and current uncomfortable methods to add and manage more products, you restrain your clients to work with more products and this way you predetermine your future in a world, where each online store offers mostly variety - in hundreds or thousands of goods?

I can't understand what do you mean with the words that you can't create a table to view the main info of the products. I saw your table with the transaction log, so obviosly you can create and show tables at your site...

I believe such table will be useful not only for me, but for all your clients with more than 10 products in their list.

Thank you for your patience with me! :-)

Solaria
