OK- I understand

So what is the target date for the non-flash interface?

I believe this project is now well in to its second year?

I dont know why I keep clicking the link in my emails, that just subject me to getting more emails about this subject...

The point is, EJ was cool, in like 2000. They have not updated since then, and probably will not update. They will most likely shut down due to lack of customers before they actually add things people want. Look at the forum history. People (myself included) have been asking for other payment processors for literally years. Rather than add them, they continue to let themselves fall further and further behind the times while making useless excuses trying to justify their inaction's and inability to compete. Truth be told, if I had to make a guess I would say there is probably bad financial management that is leading to a stressed business model that is unable to pay what is needed to provide integration with other services, causing a circular reference of sorts. They are losing customers because they cannot / will not get current, yet they might not be able to afford it.

However, right or wrong, I got tired of the bull shit excuses and complete nonsense and have already moved on. Neither me, or my business, have time to wait for another business to decide to play catch-up with the rest of the world.

I use e-junkie for 3 of my websites and am a strong supporter

The customer interface is simple and functions well - but it would really help us all if we could have an answer to the question - when will the admin project be launched?

As we have been projecting since spring, we are still expecting the new Admin to be fully live sometime within Q4 of this year. If all continues going to plan, we should have a completed version ready to start alpha testing internally around the end of summer, then we can open it to beta testing among a few select client volunteers to help us find any wrinkles that may need ironing out, then once it's fully tested to our satisfaction, we can finally take it live.

E-junkie started in 2004, and our current site and Admin design originated in 2006, though it has been updated multiple times since then; the last update to the current Admin was launched on August 25, 2009. Preliminary planning for another update began in late 2010. However, 2011 brought some false starts and other unexpected setbacks to Admin update plans, along with the conclusion that the current Admin had become too fragile to develop any further, and the broader realization that Flash was quickly becoming an obsolete technology anyway.

We hired an experienced new developer in March of last year to help us restart work on an all-new, HTML-based Admin built from scratch. Much of his work has involved essentially reverse-engineering the current Admin, as none of the Flash source code it's based on could simply be carried over to the new Admin, yet it would have to be written from scratch to work with our existing back-end as essentially a drop-in replacement for the current Admin.

I have already finished building the HTML/CSS templates for all new Admin screens back around mid-May. Now it's just a matter of our Admin programmer wrapping up the scripting that will make those screens dynamic and functional as a drop-in replacement for the current Admin. Once we finish testing the initial build and take it live, it will allow us to make ongoing updates and improvements much more readily and frequently.

I am not seeing that e-junkie wants to integrate Amazon as a new form of payment. Amazon has more customers and will benefit everyone. Since Google checkout is defunct and e-junkie is a BIG shopping cart now, why are you not integrating amazon payments? It is a must at this time. Just my two cents.

In response to the retirement of Google Checkout, we have already upgraded our 2Checkout integration to support full cart checkouts -- see announcement here:

Amazon Payments is still on our wishlist for now, but we only have so much Development brainpower to go around, so we have to focus those resources strategically if we're to make any progress at all. Currently, Development is dedicated to new integrations with Google Wallet for Digital Goods and with TaxCloud (which latter will be invaluable to our US-based sellers if the proposed "Marketplace Fairness Act" (H.R.684 / S.743) passes the House), as well as completion of our new Seller Admin that will be a prerequisite to add settings for any new payment processors such as Amazon Payments and for any other major new features and functionality.

Update please on new Seller Admin and Amazon checkout - I believe it is planned to go live early 2014?

Amazon Payments is still a wishlist item at present, but once we launch the new Admin, we'll be able to start considering that and other wishlist items in earnest. The new Admin should be formally launched in early 2014. By now, we already have an early developmental version residing on our production server that appears to be interfacing well with our database, so we're in the home stretch making rapid progress towards a feature-complete alpha version, working out the kinks and putting the finishing touches on that before we'd consider it solid enough to open for beta testing.

I wanted to use Amazon payments, but ejunkie doesn't have that option. I used payloadz along side the ejunkie buy now buttons. Overall I would say dealing with Amazon payments was not a good experience.

Point 1: It took three tries to open an account. Each time it was rejected because they couldn't verify tax information for my business. Which was pretty stupid considering Paypal and Authorize.net had no trouble at all. I spent three weeks fighting with Amazon. I finally got a working account, but I did it personally and not through a functioning LLC. Stupid beyond imagination. The reason this is so stupid is because once they eject your account because of some incompetence on their end, your account is junk and you have to start a new one from scratch. That means going through all the bank verification, etc. It took nearly 3 weeks to get a functioning account. Paypal took 2 days and Authorize.net took about 4 days. Account setup through them was a nightmare. I spent more time getting one Amazon Payments account setup than setting up my entire business.

Point 2: This is an important one for ejunkie to keep in mind. When a customer makes a successful payment to Amazon Payments, payloadz should be notified that a payment was made and therefore transfer the customer to the download link. Amazon Payments for what ever reason would fail to send the notification back to payloadz and the customer would not get their download. This happened about 10% of the time. So I had to then send the customer a free link. Most of the time they were pissed. Can you blame them? After wasting more time talking with both companies Amazon finally admitted that they have trouble with the call back links. They basically didn't care and had no intentions of improving it because the system was not designed to work with 3rd party eCommerce sites. So right from the core they don't care about a reliable system for ejunkie or payloadz to use.

Point 3: After all this, last night they shut down my processing. Here is the email from them.

"Greetings from Amazon Payments.

Amazon Payments"

They did this after I was using it for nearly three weeks and collected $1,000 in sales with no returns. They didn't even warn me. They just shut it down and sent an email. They did this on a Saturday night at that. The only reason I knew, was a customer called me and wanted to know why Amazon Payments wasn't working. He thought I was pulling some scam. I don't have a problem with their terms of service nor requiring me to list these trivial bits of information on my site. What bothers me, is the fact that they just shut it down. That means I had buy now links that collect customer information and then failed at the end. It looked like a fishing scam. How horrible.

I don't care if you add it or not. I won't be using it. Be warned. You will have troubles and your customers will blame you. For what little gain you get, you will have more lost customers and headaches than it's worth. I know what I said here will not influence you in any way, but just keep it in mind when the trouble starts. Mark my words, you will spend more time dealing with Amazon then all of your other payment options combined.

Thanks for sharing your experience; I've passed your impressions along to Development as food for thought in determining which payment services to prioritize as candidates for new integration with E-junkie.

I want to apologize for even asking about amazon payments. In order to sell downloads you need to register with amazon simple pay and not Check Out By amazon which is a different amazon payments. It took an act of congress and an e-mail to Jeff Bezos the CEO to confirm my tax and my bank account. And after 1 and a half month it finally solved.

When I got the confirmation the account specialist signed their names, but my happiness was short. At 2am next day they closed my account, this time no one signed and accused me of selling miracle cure. I sell self help audio- from when meditation is a miracle cure plus we have disclaimer everywhere that our products are for entertaining purpose only. I am getting fed up with corporation that want to monopolize everything.

Here is their e-mail. The person above is right this company doesn't deserve a thought. E junkie is perfect as it is!!!

We're still on track to have the new Admin done in first quarter of this year.

Update. Last night after I posted what Amazon did to me- I wrote back to amazon payments and to their CEO Jeff Bezos - in less then 8 hours my payment account was reinstated. But who trust them that will not find another way to close it?

I am just puzzled. People try to open your amazon simple pay (the only one that will work with downloads) and see how long it will take and what they will tell you to do.

5 years later

'Just wondering if Amazon Pay is still in the list of things to do here.

Amazon sent me an email, so I am wondering if it's a good idea or not. If so, I'd sure give it a try (if EJ recommends it) as so many people shop at Amazon as a habit, that many of my customers are likely to have the habit.

Super happy with ten years of E-Junkie! Again, 'just wondering.

I've asked Development to clarify if we have any plans to implement Amazon Pay checkout in the near term.

Dev says we will support Amazon Pay checkout soon, but there's no timeline yet for when it would be completed.
