I've set a Common Hop link for Affiliates, yet when I post/test the affiliate's link on Facebook (or a branded link that redirects to the affiliate link), the eJunkie Cart headline and text displays, not the final Hop Link destination. (see below)

Is there any way to customize the Link Preview for Facebook posting?

I tested a branded affiliate link created through a different program and it appears to use a canonical meta tag. Would that possibly help address the situation?

Thanks for reporting that issue; I've referred it to Development for improvement. Meanwhile, it appears that Product Hop Links present a more descriptive preview, so you might recommend that for affected affiliates.

You're welcome.

How do affiliates only utilize the Product Hop Link? When I remove the Common Hop link, it "breaks" the affiliate link.

Currently, all products are tied to a single event, so everything is on a single sales page. There are no "individual" sales pages for each item. Visitors choose which ticket they wish to purchase for the virtual event.

So both the Common Hop and Product Hop Links direct to the same page (as it indicates this is OK in the e-Junkie description text on the Affiliate settings).

Removing your Common Hop Link Landing Page URL would only "break" any Common Hop Links your affiliates have already obtained. They can simply replace those with any Product Hop Link you still offer. Take care to enter a Product Affiliate Share % when you enter a Product Hop Link Landing Page URL, to ensure all affiliate-referred sales of that product will still calculate a commission earned.

Ok, thanks for clarifying. I was able to test a branded affiliate link with the Product Link - it's still not showing the URL, title, or description for the ultimate landing page for the social preview, but it's a bit closer. Still really too bad that there's no way to customize the text (besides customizing the product name).

I do see that if I add an image to the Product Listing, that image will then appear in the social preview, so that's helpful!

And I assume that if an affiliate uses a Product Hop Link, that affiliate will still be credited for any other sales for any other products that have a commission indicated, correct?

Yes, regardless of which type of hop link a buyer follows, the referral cookie we set in their browser when they do so will track the affiliate's referral for any purchases that buyer makes in that browser during the 6-month lifespan of that cookie (or until they clear cookies, whichever happens first).
