Add to Cart leading to blank cart for some customers

I just submitted an email to e-junkie support, but thought I would try here as well.



The domain in question is http://MelanieJadeRummel.com/store.



I have had two customers report adding products only to find an empty cart. One of the customers said they were using Firefox.



I have not had any issues reported before this in the years I've used e-junkie, but just in the last week - two people reported the same issue.



I have read this post: http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/trouble.cart-items-not-retained.htm, but nothing in it seems to be relevent to my situation. 1) They weren't in a testing environment, 2) I've checked and all currencies are US, 3) I'm not using a subdomain, and 4) I'm not using a frameset.

I see we're already working with you via email on this, so we'll continue the discussion with you there. Here was our reply in case anyone else with a similar issue happens across this thread:

That's very odd, I've tested the buttons on that page in Firefox with no issues, but when I started checking out some of the other sections I think I might have found part of the problem.



On the store page you have our View Cart buttons installed, so the cart is opening in an overlay display within your page. However, on some of the online course pages such as http://melaniejaderummel.com/lifewithspiritguides/ you are using our Add to Cart buttons without a View Cart button included on the page. That means the cart will default to a "fall-back" mode and open in a new tab or window instead of displaying in the overlay.



On an individual basis each version of the cart works but the overlay cart and the fall-back cart track items separately. So if someone adds something on the store page then surfs to one of the pages for an online course and adds a product there they will not see the items added from the store page, and vice versa. That's not quite a "cart always empty" situation but it would definitely appear that some of the items are getting lost in the cart.



This particular issue can be solved by including the code for a View Cart button on every page with any number of Add to Cart buttons so that everything appears in an overlay and is tracked together. You don't even necessarily need to have a button, this is the critical part of the View Cart button code which creates the overlay:
