New shopping cart open for testing!

I have noticed that since switching from the old cart to the new that I get a lot of double names. Like instead of getting "John Smith" it will come up as "John John". Not sure that it matters much, and I am not even sure if the new system is causing it. Just thought I would let you know just in case.

I really like the new cart! Is it possible to have our logo displayed at the top of the cart? Also, any update on the 'continue shopping' button when displaying on mobile devices?

Thanks for the feedback. Dev has now already updated the "Pay X.XX" button to say "Proceed to Payment" for sellers who use PayPal Advanced or 2Checkout (which have to redirect to an externally hosted page for entry of card details). We decided that "Full Name" could be mistaken for "First Name" at a glance, so Dev has changed the name field labels to say "Name on Card" for the billing name and "Ship to Name" for the shipping name. I've also reported the missing Continue Shopping button on mobile and logo/header image, so those should be sorted out soon.

One small things to point out. The shipping amount shown in the drop down appears to cut off the last number of the shipping fee. For instance, instead of showing $18.43, it only shows $18.4. This seems to be only when using the 'flat rate' shipping rules. If I use the UPS live rates rule it will show the full amount in the drop down.

Thanks for reporting that. I've reproduced the issue in my own account, and found it appears to be only truncating trailing zeroes after the decimal -- e.g. 9.00 shows as just 9, 9.80 shows as 9.8, etc. Fortunately, that means your buyers are still paying accurate rates down to the penny, according to your shipping calc. settings; your affected amounts just so happened to be your flat rates, but it appears all rates with any trailing decimal zero(es) are affected. I've referred that to Development for a fix.

if I remember correctly, the old cart (or at least the version that opened a new browser) showed that the connection was secure. This new cart doesn't show any kind of secure icon...is there any way to add that? My website has the secure icon, but the cart doesn't

Regardless of whether you're using our new or classic cart, if you are using the overlay-style cart that displays inside your own page, it would retain whatever padlock icon and https: URL your own sales page does (if it does). Our new cart also displays a GeoTrust security badge in the lower-right corner of the dimmed background under the cart overlay.

Rest assured our cart overlay does always load securely via https: in an iframe, but it's technically impossible to indicate that in the browser itself if your sales page itself does not also load securely with an https: URL. That's just an inherent tradeoff for having a smooth buyer experience with an integrated checkout for card-based payment embedded within your site, when you don't have the ecommerce software directly installed on your own server.

If your sales pages load insecurely using regular http:, and if you would prefer to have standard browser security indicators (https: URL and padlock icon) displayed for your cart and checkout, you can simply use the "fallback" version of our cart that displays in a separate window/tab. To do this, you can simply delete/omit this line from your View Cart code on every page:

...or when you obtain fresh cart button codes, un-tick the box for "Get javascript cart buttons."

Actually - the Name on Card option is killing us in not being able to pass on the first name and last name for follow up marketing and list assignment, and keeping a consistent 'User' across E-Junkie, Stripe, PayPal,InfusionSoft.

You see, even from my own wallet right now, my own 'Name on Card' varies from Mr PA Stanley, Philip Stanley, MR P Stanley, P Stanley and Mr Philip A Stanley so getting the real name is a complete nightmare.

Is there way for us to add our own fields
1) 'First Name'
2) 'Last Name'

in addition to e-junkie's own
3) 'Name on Card'

At first I thought this was a Stripe limitation in that they were not asking for the FName/LName of the Person, but it seems it is a cart decision - I know we can force the entry of a telephone number into the box, can we programmatically add in these two fields or do we have to abandon the 'add to cart' button and do our own form as a first step?

P.S. This is for a membership/code, so there is no Ship to Name to clarify the matter..

We do split the full name entered into First and Last Names in your E-junkie Transaction Log and Buyer Groups (mailing lists for each item ordered), which also carries through to any custom/third-party Integration transmissions to an external script you may have set up. Also, even separating the name fields would still allow the buyer to enter their name however they wish, which could also lead to a declined payment if that doesn't happen to match the name on their card, which is one reason we combined them into a single full-name field. Ultimately, it's probably best to tie each buyer profile to their email address, rather than going by name alone.

We have no way to add extra fields to the new cart or its embedded checkout, but you're welcome to continue using the classic cart and checkout if you have need for some aspect of how that worked which has changed with the new cart.

@E-junkie_Guru I like to try the new shopping cart. But, after I enable the new cart, my overlay shopping cart window will not loading. After click view card or add to cart button, the overlay window pop out and always stuck in "loading...". I tried with different linux, windows, mac, with different browser, chrome, firefox. 'Name on Card' for the card purchase (understood for validation) and first name (at a minimum) or first and last name for communication are really both required. The prospect of deriving either from the other set (whichever way around) is non-sensical as they are two completely different things.

Even Amazon gets this wrong in exactly the same way, as they continually email me and greet me as 'Hello Mr P,"

Full Name is NOT the same as 'Name on Card' (nor will be for anyone using someone else's card to subscribe or buy with - which happens all the time, in businesses too, where the name on the card is more often than not the business owner) - choosing not to have the option to carry a 'real' name for the registration/contact/user/owner as well as a card name at the time of purchase seems to ignore real-life practice (even if some do choose to put in 'Mickey' 'Mouse' on occasion).

If we don't know the user's/purchasers real name, then after all that filling out our choices are starkly to take the risk of addressing them incorrectly and look like idiots, impersonally and look standoffish, or to ask them again... to let us know how to address them (because we won't know good from bad) - does that not seem strange to anyone at e-junkie?

@jerrycards - We could not reproduce the issue you described, but that could happen if you didn't reload your sales page before testing it after you switched cart versions. It appears you had the new cart enabled for your account when we tested it earlier, and that appeared to work fine for us on your test page and your site in general. If you're still seeing the problem, could you tell us which browser app you're using when the problem occurs?

@E-junkie_Guru My problem has been fixed by e-junkie support. I will post it here if others has the same problem. I am using CloudFlare to redirect my traffic. The CloudFlare setup has Rocketscript (Rocket Loader) enabled which suppose to Improve load time for pages that include JavaScript. Apparently, that break the JavaScript of the shopping card. After turn that off, the shopping card load fine.

Is there a way/configuration to remove the "Continue Shopping" button?

I'd use the new shopping cart with a "Buy Now" button because I only need a way to choose between PayPal and Credit Card for the payment, and the new cart seems to do that in an easy way.

So a "Continue Shopping" button looks a bit weird for my case.

Unfortunately, we do not have any way to remove the Continue Shopping button in the new cart, but you might consider offering buyers a choice of Buy Now buttons on your sales page for PayPal vs. card payment. When you go to your button codes screen in Seller Admin, below the box of Buy Now button codes you can select a checkout method to change the Buy Now code provided there accordingly.

Oh, that's a pity, because having only one button and then a dialog to choose between payment methods seems to be the smoother way.

Do you guys also intend to modernize the checkout page for the (Stripe) Buy Now button? It's a really old and clunky design. Do you have any timeframe for that?

Development is planning to upgrade our Buy Now checkout page for card payments soon, so it should match the card checkout screen for our new cart, though I can't estimate how soon they would have that completed.

So the new cart is stable and live? Yeah! I was lamenting over the hideous old cart until I found this thread today. Why didn't you guys announce to us old customers that we have to activate the new cart ourselves? Or did I miss that announcement?

BTW still missing 'continue shopping' button on mobile.

The new cart is stable and live, though we're still finessing a few minor usability concerns like the Continue Shopping button you mentioned, so we haven't made it the default for all new account registrations quite yet.

The yellow alert bar at the top of our Admin panel has shown a new cart notification for some time now, linking to this thread with instructions to opt-in for trying out the new cart. We won't switch any existing clients to the new cart automatically, as we have no way of knowing who may have customized the classic cart on their site, so existing users of the classic cart would need to deliberately opt-in for the new cart if they prefer. Eventually there will be a preference setting for this in Seller Admin.
