I rather write a lengthy post, and then link directly to the cart. Because I'm linking to the cart, I'm not taking someone to the product website, so does the cookie register?

Also, I'm making my own cart links by added the code where I think it goes, and it seems to work.

Will these still work as affiliate links even if the merchant hasn't signed up for them?

Hi Josh,

You can't actually write your own affiliate links from scratch even if you understand the basic format because our system will go by the merchant's settings, you cannot impose any settings on the merchant from your end.

The links in your post are only working because this merchant allows you to both link to a landing page for that product or get a direct link to their cart for that product. If you tried that with a different product or for a merchant that you are not an affiliate with the links would not work.

If you would like to link directly to the merchant's cart for a product when they are not offering that option please contact them to ask if they will enable that setting.

Hmmm, I see that you're right. Working with this many affiliates can cause it to be a bit of a hassle when someone hasn't got it set up right.

What about my question regarding the 6 month cookie if you send someone direct to a cart, rather than a sales page?

Thanks

A direct affiliate link to the cart would still create the same 6 month browser cookie.
